Okay, we’ve heard of people going to extreme measures to snag a significant other — but dating your own backpack? Now that's a first. After 10 years of friendship, comedian Genevieve Blau has taken it to the next level with her pink JanSport backpack, sharing all the intimate details on Instagram (follow the hashtag #JanSportDate). You can get the full scoop at Business Insider.
But the short version is that these unlikely lovebirds can be seen dining, sunbathing and even taking a bubble bath together. They work out together. They go to weddings together. They explore NYC together. So romantic.
And now Blau and her backpack are even exploring the world together. They've just returned from an all-expenses-paid trip to Barcelona courtesy of JanSport. Free travel is definitely one way to a woman’s heart! (And you can check out photos from their escapes at her Instagram here.)
“I’m a single person and I don’t want to feel bad about going out and doing all the things I wanna do even if I’m alone,” Blau told The Daily Dot.
We’re all about being properly equipped for any adventure, but have some doubts about the future for these two. Then again, we’re pretty sure a backpack doesn’t fart or snore, so maybe there’s hope for these two yet.

Just in case you happened to be around 42nd Street in New York City last evening and noticed crowds of pedestrians with their smartphones held high, seemingly looking off into the horizon, and wondered what was going on...it's Manhattanhenge!
Two weekends every year, during the summer, the setting sun perfectly lines up with the grid of the city's east-west streets, creating a straight beam of sunset through the urban canyons of the streets. Photographers who wish to capture this phenomenon typically stake out the west end of of wide 42nd Street, and even head over the East River to Long Island City to capture the whole of the skyline.
Whether you love 'em or want to cut them loose, man buns are here to stay. And this summer, we predict they will be in full effect at theme parks across America. After all, no one likes to let their hair down in the sticky hot sun. (Also, some of us still may be concerned about our hair catching on a roller coaster and leaving us not only bald but perhaps, headless. )
For those of you who still aren't sure what a man bun is, or for those of you men who are confounded as to how best display your man bun, youMUST follow Man Buns of Disneyland on Instagram.
This is an offshoot of DILFs of Disneyland and indeed, some earlier photos on the Man Buns stream were sourced by DILFs (Um, did I really just write that sentence?) But no matter, if you want to see man buns, you will get man buns here. There's a man bun eating at a Disneyland restaurant. Another man bun coming off a ride. Man buns in front of the castle. And so many more.
Below are a few of our favorites. Your welcome.

Let's talk about Ryanair for a moment. Hold your groans, as this news from the Irish low-cost airline is actually kind of fun...albeit extraordinarily overdue.
Ryanair has officially joined Instagram.
As part of the airline's campaign to talk with instead of just at customers, they've slowly but surely tested the waters of social media, joining Twitter in late 2013 and ramping up promotion of their low fares via this channel over the couple years since. That must have proved successful enough to pay an employee to post a few photos here on there on Instagram. Welcome, @ryanair.
One day in, it's obvious Ryanair is embracing the channel, making all the newbie mistakes of one enthralled by the app (horizontal cropping, over-filtering, and posting blurry photos of old photos).

Selfie sticks may be increasingly banned at destinations, but the original handheld selfie is still very much alive, even in the air. Beginning this month, Virgin Atlantic is offering "#SkyhighSelfie spots" onboard the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Virgin Atlantic teased the #SkyhighSelfie spot as early as October 2014, when their 787 made its inaugural flight from London to Boston. Now, finally, the spots are up and available, which look to be located on walls near the galleys.

Are you good at Instagram?
Okay, don't answer that. Whether you have 10 followers or 10.2k, British Airways is interested and could potentially take you for a trip to photograph their next advertisement.
The contest is a partnership between British Airways, TimeOut, and The Telegraph to send 10 Instagrammers to 10 of the destinations British Airways serves from London-Gatwick Airport for a 3-day stay (with a per diem for meals!) and a lesson with a professional photographer.

You've just got to see the Library of Parliament, located within the Parliament buildings in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Ranked as one of the "7 Wonder of Canada," but more famously recognized as the "most beautiful room in Canada," the library is the only remaining piece of the original 1876 Parliament building, surviving the destructive 1916 fire thanks to iron fire doors. Inside are 1 million documents and 11 miles of books and, up until very recently, a "no cameras" zone.
Visitors to the Library fall into one of two groups: members of Parliament and their staff, or members of there public making the official (and free!) Parliament tour. The latter would find themselves disappointed by a major rule: photography was strictly prohibited if the room had anyone in it, either staff or politician. Occasionally a weekend tour would get lucky and find an empty library, but viewing the room with all its lights on, a librarian stationed, and in active use brings out the spirit of the space.

Fun fact: There are over 26,000 Instagams tagged #PDXcarpet.
Not-so-fun fact: The cult-favorite carpet inspiring such photo documentation is making its final departure this month, as Portland International Airport in Oregon lays down a fresh rug with an updated design.
The APEX blog discovered that the new look, due to be installed mid-January, doesn't stray far from the original scheme of the beloved original design. That original, installed in the 1980s, was an "abstract representation of the airport’s runways and aircraft"; the newer design expands upon this, to evoke “organic and man-made shapes found within the surrounding areas of PDX, including airplane wings, runways, leaves, trails, and waterways.”
So what will happen to the 13 acres of graphic funkiness that is the famous PDX carpet? The NY Times hints that actual squares of the rug will be given away:
2014 was a busy year for the Jaunted team.
If you've been following our exploits on Instagram then you undoubtably will recall that we've spent the last 365-ish days everywhere from Papua New Guinea to the Brazilian Amazon and from Christmas Island to an ocean liner in the middle of the Atlantic.

3.5 million people looked at photos of Emirates First Class this week and it's all thanks to Paris Hilton.
Jetting through Miami, Dubai, India, and Los Angeles to play DJ gigs and make appearances in support of her eponymous fashion and fragrance lines this week, Hilton alleviated her in-flight boredom by planning her next photo op. Five times over the course of these travels she managed to post Instagram photos of herself enjoying the comfort of the premium class, and she's quickly becoming a champion for the airline, whether official or not.
Paris has made a habit of documenting her travels via Instagram, posing in her First Class seats when she flies commercial or opting for a full vogue next to the plane when flying private.
These images are immediately shared with her legion of followers, and average over 40,000 "likes" each. Her followers may not be subscribers of Robb Report, but they are young and impressionable, and images of aspirational travel are both memorable and an easy "like."
Considering a single tweet of hers praising the airline in 2009 (to only ~200,000 followers at the time) was valued at $1.5 million five years ago, we shudder to think of a possible valuation for her recent Instagrams, of which there have been five in one week (one a video tour of the First Class cabin).

Have plans for tomorrow? If not, try to make your way out to Seattle, as Alaska Airlines is hosting a scavenger hunt in and around the city. We would probably play along just for some airline swag or a t-shirt, but what they’re handing out to the winner is even better. To celebrate their order of a whole bunch of brand new Boeing 737-900ERs they are offering up a chance to drive one—at least in the simulator.
The airline will be revealing clues on both Instagram and Twitter beginning at 6am—local time—this Friday. Your job will be to use the hints to find spots in and around Seattle, and if you’re the first to arrive at each location you might just score some time in the Boeing 737 flight simulator.
