Which Luxe Hotel Brand Will Open First: Denizen or Edition?

March 12, 2009 at 4:56 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Our sis site HotelChatter does a bang-up job of covering the latest news and trends in the hotel world. Check in and stay awhile.

· Denizen vs. Edition: The ultimate in What Recession? news is the race between Marriott's Edition Hotels and Hilton's newly announced Denizen Hotels. While Denizen has no clear opening date, Edition has bounced around from city to city before finally settling today on Istanbul in December 2009. Will anyone care by the time these places open? Given the economy, we all just be shacking up at Holiday Inns won't we?

· Colombia Hotel Scene: Amanda Pressner, who gave us our Colombia Field Trip last month dishes on the hotel scene for our big sis.

· Dollar Hotel Rooms: The economy has spawned a hotel trend we are loving--$1 Hotel Rooms!

· Best Wine Bar Name: Drink away your sorrys at the wine bar inside the new Vegas resort, The M Resort. The place is called the hostile grape. We love it.

· Three Hotels in One: The TriPack hotel in Manhattan is set to open soon with three different hotel brands inside--Candlewood Suites, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express. What will they think of next?

What To Do When The Hotel Minibar's Water Bottle Costs $7.50

Our sis site HotelChatter does a bang-up job of covering the latest news and trends in the hotel world. Check in and stay awhile.

· What Recession? The Hotels Edition: The Peninsula Hong Kong doesn't want you to ride the subway. No, no, no. You must take the helicopter instead.

· The Hottest Newest Hotel Opening Delay: This belongs to the hipstery Ace Hotel which will now open on March 16th. Original opening date was to be Feb. 1.

· Finally! Someone Understands We're in a Recession: This hotel in NYC is undergoing some light construction in the public areas but the newly renovated rooms are $99 a night.

· Hotel Fitness: It's American Heart Month. Learn how you can keep "up in the gym, working on your fitness" while staying in hotels.

Whistle While You Work While Walking On a Treadmill

February 5, 2009 at 5:23 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Our sis site HotelChatter does a bang-up job of covering the latest news and trends in the hotel world. Check in and stay awhile.

· The Hotel Fitness Center is Also Now the Business Center: This is an awesomely bad idea. A JW Marriott Hotel offers guest the use of treadmills that allow you to work on a computer while you walk.

· Crowne Plaza's Personal Hoteliers: Just a fancy term for another fancy term, "Business Butlers."

· Why You Should Go to the Conrad Maldives: The hotel's general manager does he best to persuade us.

· Back Where It All Begins: For the original Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong.

· Cold Water But Free WiFi Available: If a hotel in Guatemala can't provide you with any hot water but can offer you free WiFi then all those luxury hotel claims about the cost of providing guests with free wireless internet are just serious BS.

We're super-excited: Jaunted could be named the best travel blog of 2008! But we're only going to take the honor if you click over and vote us up. You can vote once every 24 hours, something we know 'cause we've been refreshing like whoa lately. Help us out, would ya?

And while HotelChatter isn't in the running in this particular poll, our sis site did just get a nod from Outside as one of the magazine's must-read internet destinations. Maybe 'cause of great stories like this?
