'Sherlock Holmes' Investigates Brooklyn
You may have heard some rumblings about drama on the set of "Sherlock Holmes" late last year. The film, starring Robert Downey Jr., Rachel McAdams, and Jude Law, has had its fair share of mishaps. First, it was announced the film’s director Guy Ritchie and wife Madonna were getting divorced. Then RDJ was injured while filming and to top it off a tanker truck exploded on set. The movie was filming throughout London for most of the fall and early winter with locations including Freemason's Hall, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Brompton Cemetery.
"Sherlock Holmes" has finally made its way to this side of the pond. Today, they are filming at the Marcy Avenue Armory, 355 Marcy Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The armory is a “qualified film production facility”, meaning all state and city tax credits apply when the building is used. Since money talks, it is a popular location. “I Am Legend”, “28 Days Later”, and “Meet the Parents” were all filmed in the Marcy Avenue Armory whose history and architecture make it a perfect backdrop for a period piece like “Sherlock Holmes”. Hopefully, the movie’s “curse” hasn’t followed it’s cast and crew stateside but just in case we’d steer clear of Marcy Ave in Williamsburg for the next few weeks.

The Price Of Guy Ritchie's Silence
Think you've had a bad week? Not only did Madonna fall onstage last night, but she also saw her bank accounts depleted when the settlement of her divorce from Guy Ritchie was leaked.
The British-American power couple announced they were splitting earlier this fall amid rumors that she had cheated on him with Alex Rodriguez. While that was never proven, the couple gave each other a wide berth, with Ritchie staying in London to work on his Sherlock Holmes movie and Madonna keeping to her New York City apartment (which predates the marriage) when she wasn't on tour. The settlement is rumored to give Ritchie, who never signed a prenup, almost $92 million.
Madonna took the couple's son Rocco to Rio de Janeiro with her, but hopefully he wasn't watching when she slipped and fell at the Maracanã stadium (best known for hosting the World Cup in the '70s). Well, we all have those weeks.

Madonna Takes New York
Does this mean the fake British accent is going away? Madonna (seen above at a UNICEF event with Rihanna) and Guy Ritchie have reportedly come to a divorce agreement in which the Material Girl will stay in New York and her former husband will remain in London.
It was only after she married the director Ritchie that Madonna bought property in merrie olde England. Now, according to People, their shared sons Rocco and David Banda will split their time between the two cities, while Madge's daughter Lourdes from a previous marriage relationship will live in New York full time.
This does nothing to dispel the rumors that Madonna's next conquest is Yankees slugger A-Rod, who--surprise!--happens to live in New York. But we're kind of glad she picked us anyway.

Rachel McAdams For America's Sweetheart (Even Though She's Canadian)
See that? She's pushing her own cart! Like a real person! No amount of magazine fluff pieces have the power like this photo to convince us Rachel McAdams is just a regular girl who occasionally gets discombobulated from hauling around things like her laptop sleeve.
Of course, regular girls don't get to trot off to London and co-star in the new Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr., directed by Guy Ritchie, but that's beside the point.

Infidelity Travel: Despite Bad Taste, Madonna and A-Rod Move Forward
We were wrong: Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie announced they are divorcing, making all those lingering lunches with Alex Rodriguez seem not so innocent any more.
The couple is calling it quits after 7-and-a-half years together; despite mediation and a Kabbalah course in New York, Ritchie pressed for the divorce before the end of Madonna's "Sticky & Sweet" world tour that would have bought them some time to think it over.
The couple owns at least five homes together--in London and the English countryside, New York, LA and Miami, setting the stage for a major divorce battle--and a lot of traveling back and forth between the UK trial and the pair's respective movie sets and performances. Ritchie has already moved to Wiltshire; Madonna is expected to retain her Central Park West apartment in New York, where A-Rod is. Coincidence? Hmm...

On Tour Travel: A Romantic Stopover For Madonna On Tour
So that's where my gym shorts went! Madonna dons a Sporty Spice outfit for the opening night of her "Sticky and Sweet" tour in Wales over the weekend.
The tour is reportedly traveling with 100 pairs of knee pads, 30 wardrobe trunks and 12 portable trampolines. But no one knows for sure how much of that paraphernalia was useful when the Material Girl and husband Guy Ritchie renewed their wedding vows in a ceremony in London before the Welsh kickoff. The religious observance may have been private but was clearly intended as a riposte to tabloid rumors that Madonna's reported affair with Alex Rodriguez had put their marriage on the rocks.

Inauspicious Travel: Guy Ritchie Hiding in Plain Sight
Amid the swirl of rumors that Madonna is looking for a way to ditch her director husband, the husband in question came to New York this week to do... well, nothing in particular.
Guy Ritchie's just a regular guy coming to the Big Apple--although staying in a posh Upper West Side co-op isn't the way most people see the town. He'd better not see any bad movies in case paparazzi catch him flinching on the way out.
Madonna has been spotted at the Kabbalah Center, possibly getting some last-minute devotion time in before her world tour kicks off in August. Guy, should he still be around, will probably return to London to keep working on his upcoming flick "RocknRolla" and (say the yea-sayers) plan the Material Girl's blowout 50th birthday party in September. Move along gossips, nothing to see here... except Britain's next high-profile divorce case.
