Unhappy Birthday, Little J!
Planning your next birthday party or parentally disapproved of getaway? Don't forget to check Jaunted's Gossip Girl Map.
We've been so busy on the road we can barely keep up with the awesomeness that is Class play of "The Age of Innocence" that turns into an FML-off, with guest star Charles Isherwood? Sweet. Old money coming out to play and ruining young lives? Awesome.
This week is Jenny's birthday, and Serena decides to give her the party to end all parties -- which may or may not be related to the fact that she just ran into socialite Poppy and her life is way more fabulous. But she's shown up when Jenny, giving her a taste of her own, posts the party on Gossip Girl, inviting all sorts of miscreants. After the world's briefest fling with wild living, a still-Yaleless Blair has fallen back into the arms of Nate, which causes his soon-to-be-ex-girlfriend Vanessa to get revenge by... sleeping with Chuck. That's just what he wants you to do!
And while Dan got into Yale, he didn't get the financial aid he needed, causing Rufus to quietly contemplate selling the loft (in this market? Yikes!) and moving in with the van der Woodsens uptown, the same apartment which has just been thoroughly trashed at the party. That doesn't go over very well with Jenny, as might be expected. At the end of the night, Serena jets off to the Costa Brava with Poppy and Gabriel, whom she may have met during her debaucherous days (oops!), Nate proves unable to resist the Waldorf gravitational force field and Dan's secret literary admirer turns out to be his long-lost stepbrother. Oh, and Dorota has a boyfriend. We need more on that.

Now That Everyone is On Twitter, Airports Create Facebook Pages
With so much travel news raining down on us, we don't always have time to give every story its own forecast. Here's more of the day's news, in brief.
· Airports on Facebook: The truth is the new redesign of Facebook has killed most Facebook addictions. We find ourselves updating our status maybe once every two or three days now instead of once an hour. Why? Because we have Twitter for that now. But apparently a believer in "Better late to the social media party than never" credo, airports like Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International have begun creating Facebook pages where you can check in for actual airport updates and possibly win a roundtrip ticket on Frontier airlines. [Today in the Sky]
· 'Gossip Girl' Stars Spend Time in Miami: While we eagerly await the next episode of Gossip Girl tonight, co-stars Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr cozied up together during a mini-vacay to the Mondrian South Beach. Looks like even Chuck Bass needs a trip to the gym every once in a while. [HotelChatter]
· JP Morgan Gets New Corporate Jets: The Wall Street firm has set aside $119 million for new jets and a hangar upgrade. But don't worry, no bail-out money is going to be used to buy them. And like, they won't even arrive until 2012. Still, we bet there are better ways to use funds. [NY Post]
· Tragic Plane Crash in Montana: A private plane chartering 14 people, including seven children, to a ski trip in Montana crashed just 500 feet west of the airport, landing in a cemetary and killing all onboard.[NY Times]

Our Preppy Picks for 'Lily' in Los Angeles
Like magical puppetmasters with strings everywhere, the creators of "Gossip Girl"> have us right where they want us. Even as we celebrate the return of one of our favorite guilty pleasures, a photo has leaked of Brittany Snow, star of GG spinoff "Lily," in full '80s prep regalia shooting the backdoor pilot. And here we were thinking she was going to be cool! Check out that argyle sweater and blazer set. And the Gucci shoulder bag!
Perhaps we should adjust our expectations and gear up to celebrate preppy L.A. with spots like these:
Where to Eat: Dish Brunching in this shabby-chic restaurant is like dining in your childhood dollhouse. 734 Foothill Blvd, La Canada
Where to Go Out: PYT at Jimmy's Lounge If your style is more Vampire Weekend than MGMT, find your kind at this weekly dance party with stellar drink specials. Fridays at 10PM; 6202 Santa Monica Blvd.
Where to Shop: Original Penguin. Even if these photos are just a tease as Lily becomes an authentic punk and casts aside her preppy weeds, someone on this show will be wearing this alternative to too-loud-Lauren. Their whimsical polo shirts are perfect for stacking on -- Andrew McCarthy to wardrobe! 8215 Melrose Ave.

'Gossip Girl' Returns to The Russian Tea Room

Everyone’s favorite upper east siders are filming at a New York landmark today. The entire cast of “Gossip Girl” will be returning to The Russian Tea Room to finish a scene they began yesterday. Not only did Serena get arrested during yesterday‘s shoot but some drama went down involving Blair (as usual), can’t wait to see what trouble they get into today.
The Russian Tea Room, situated in a six-story former Brownstone on 57th St between Carnegie Tower and Metropolitan Tower, is known more for its over-the-top décor, like a 15-foot acrylic juggling bear who doubles as an aquarium, a gold-hued Fabergé egg, and red banquettes, than its food.

'Gossip Girl' Spinoff So Totally California
No wonder Lily van der Woodsen-Bass was so messed up! Her mom was in a plane crash and her dad was always in New York hanging out with some high-class ladies.
The latest casting news for "Lily," the "Gossip Girl" spinoff formerly known as "How I Met Your Girlfriend's Mother," includes former "LOST"away Cynthia Watros (who played Libby) as Lily's mom and Brat Packer Andrew McCarthy, most recently part of the cast of the ever-on-the-bubble "Lipstick Jungle."
Watros and McCarthy join Brittany Snow as Lily and "Confessions of a Shopaholic"'s Krysten Ritter as the older sister she lives with in California in the tale of Serena's mom's supposedly wild-child adolescence. That's pretty true-to-life for a lot of Los Angeles teens. (Hello, Rumer Willis! Or better yet, Kelly Taylor!)
There are no new location updates but as long as we're geeking out about casting, "Veronica Mars" fans should be cheered by the addition of Ryan Hansen, who played the lovably degenerate Dick Casablancas, in a supporting role on "Lily." And there's just one more week till the new episode of "Gossip Girl"!

OMG! No Doubt To Appear For "Gossip Girl" Backdoor Pilot
What do you know, our little network is moving up in the world. Last season when "Gossip Girl" reached out for a band to play the debutante ball where Serena battled her grandmother, we got some duo called The Pierces. This year, viewers of the CW show we can't stop watching will be treated to a performance by No Doubt, apparently (spoiler alert!) standing in for Lily's favorite bands from the '80s.
According to whispers on the Internet, the penultimate episode of this season will launch the new "Gossip Girl" spinoff, "Lily," in the "backdoor" way "Private Practice" was delivered to "Grey's Anatomy" viewers. (That's just what they call it!) In it, young Lily, rumored to be played by "Hairspray"'s Brittany Snow, will see No Doubt as a band covering '80s faves Adam and the Ants.
We're so deprived of new "Gossip Girl" episodes that even this retro-fantasia wrapped in a mystery wrapped in a riddle sounds good right now. But our favorite Upper East Siders will return March 16 for the final eight episodes of Season 2. No Doubt will be going back on tour this summer with Paramore.

Do We Wanna Meet The Real-Life Gossip Girls? (Duh.)
It's "Laguna Beach" with knee socks: Proving that someone's "Gossip Girl" withdrawal is worse than ours, Bravo announced last week that they are developing a reality series about New York City prep schoolers. That's right, it's "The Real Gossip Girls Of New York."
The producers of "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" and the first season of "Top Design" expect the as yet untitled show to premiere later this year on the channel best known for "Project Runway" and the "Real Housewives" series. Fashion, rich people and teenagers -- sounds like a match made in heaven.

'Gossip Girl' Spinoff: We Love The '80s!
With our favorite Upper East Siders on hiatus until March 9, we are free to engage in wild speculation about the once-denied, now-confirmed "Gossip Girl" throwback spinoff. The leaks turned out to be true: The new series will focus on Lily and Rufus' fine '80s romance in Los Angeles, although how Lily got her staid, establishment parents to let her move to California is anyone's guess.
We've heard the name Kristen Bell (currently the voice of "Gossip Girl") bandied about to play little Lil, but the only announced member of the cast so far is Krysten Ritter (Isla Fisher's best friend in the new movie "Confessions of a Shopaholic") who has been tapped to play the older Bart sister and black sheep.

Is A Scandal Still A Scandal If You Can't Text About It?

Previously: Blair got waitlisted to Yale, her first B and, then, her first detention courtesy of new teacher Rachel Carr, the only prof Serena ever liked; Chuck brought his Uncle Jack down with the help of his former stepmom Lily.
No sooner has Blair finished (directing Dorota to do) her hard labor -- picking up trash in New York City's Central Park -- than she already wants revenge from Ms. Carr. And her crowd is unwilling to contribute until the new teacher in town spearheads a new school rule requiring students to surrender their cell phones before class. Oh noes! Several contraband phones later, Blair is planting a rumor about Carr and Dan Humphrey on Gossip Girl, about which even Serena has her suspicions. Those two seem to be meeting everywhere, ostensibly about Dan's stories, but....

Celebrities Invade Tampa for Super (Bowl) Exposure
For your favorite celebrities, last night's Super Bowl XLIII between the Steelers and the Cardinals was really just the hangover brunch to a weekend of nonstop partying.
On Friday night Lindsay Lohan looked bored while girlfriend Samantha Ronson DJ'd with Benji and Joel Madden at the ESPN the Magazine Next Party in a downtown Tampa tent. (They later ran into Brody Jenner and girlfriend at the Maxim party in Ybor City.) Meanwhile, Paris Hilton showed off a new haircut at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino while M.C. Hammer, star of last night's Cash4Gold.com ads, mugged on the red carpet.
On Saturday, "Gossip Girl"'s Chace Crawford, Blake Lively and Penn Badgley faced off against Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian and their stepbro Brody Jenner in the DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl. Kim Kardashian was MIA for the game, probably because she was off prepping for the night's Leather and Laces Party, where she mugged for the cameras with co-hosts Jenny McCarthy and Carmen Electra. And Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, who just discovered Twitter, live-tweeted their attendance at The Giving Back Fund's "Big Game-Big Give" event in South Tampa, which provides guidance to entertainers who want to start their own charities. That's how we know that he pulled a stray hair out of her nose. Ew?
But there was one star everyone wanted to see, and she didn't even make the parties: Jennifer Hudson made her first public appearance since the tragic murders of her mother, brother and nephew in order to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the game. There wasn't a dry eye in the house -- and that was before the 100-yard interception!

'Brothers and Sisters' Reunite in Pasadena
“Brothers and Sisters”, a.k.a. the show that makes us grateful we're an only child, is filming on Lombardy Road in Pasadena, Calif. today. An upscale residential neighborhood, Lombardy is located just one block south of Huntington Library’s Botanical Gardens.
Housing a large collection of rare books and manuscripts in the fields of British and American literature, the library has become a treasure for academics and book collectors. Their gallery also contains one of the most comprehensive collections of 18th- and 19th-century British and French art in the U.S.
In addition, the Botanical Gardens are a delight to the community, covering 120 acres, they include dozens of specialized gardens like the Desert Garden, the Japanese Garden, the Rose Garden, and the Chinese garden, all situated in a park-like setting throughout the library's lawn. The Huntington Library is open Wed-Mon until 4:30 p.m., adult admission is $15.00.
And here's a shocker, Gossip Girl is filming on the Upper East Side of Manhattan today. Filming permits were spotted along Central Park on 5th Ave, Madison Ave, and E 72nd.
If you have any tips about where else movies or TV shows are filming, send them our way at tips@jaunted.com.

Uh Oh. Is It War?
Previously: Chuck finds a morality clause in his way to inheriting Bass Industries; Dan and Serena struggled with the concept that they might have a half-sibling, but even if they don't, their parents are totally doin' it. And a long time ago, Blair and Serena both wanted to go to Yale.
A little late, but we'll take it: Anyone at or above the age of "Gossip Girl"'s protagonist probably knows that early-decision news is a December event, not a mid-January reckoning. But this week's action-packed episode closed out one arc while neatly setting up conflicts that could consume the rest of the season. Well done, writers.
Yale is finally getting back to the students of Constance Billiard and the suspense is killing them. Blair is woken up by her dad, stepdad/model Roman and Dorota wearing Yale togs and bearing a bulldog (Yale mascot!) to celebrate the pending acceptance, even though she doesn't hear until she gets to school. The verdict: Waitlisted... a crushing blow for Queen B, who manages to find out that someone else at Constance has "her" slot in the freshman class. That someone is Serena, who is overjoyed that Dan got in but no longer sure that she would like to attend or trigger a massive rift between herself and her BFF.
When Serena discovers Yale wants to issue a press release about her acceptance, she decides to decline, making Blair overjoyed and Dan fretting about the potential distance between Providence and New Haven. (Note: It's about 2 hours on the train. Get over it!) Then again, Blair claims not to have applied to any other colleges. Great role model!
Meanwhile, Chuck's attempts to get Uncle Jack to break the morality clause for himself -- including having him tailed by trannies and attempting to order anthrax on his company credit card -- all come to naught until he pairs up with Lily, who has a better idea: Jack has taken control of Bass Industries based on his status as Chuck's guardian. But unbeknownst to him, or Chuck, the late great Bart Bass made a move to adopt Serena and Eric, and in turn to have Chuck adopted by Lily. Since the dead guy had already drawn up the papers, all his son has to do is sign to make Lily the interim head of Bass Industries.
Everyone eventually converges on the opera, which is "Tristan un Isolde" -- a recent offering of the Metropolitan Opera, although this section of the episode was clearly not filmed in the Met's home. Nate pretends to be surprised when Vanessa has bought him nosebleed seats, even though he was going to treat her to the family box -- apparently he's been dropping mad cash on her since the Archibald funds were un-frozen. (Not enough drama in this arc!) Rufus tries to impress the crowds with info Eric fed him about opera, but to no avail. And exultant, Blair decides to trick the new teacher who dared give her a B (Laura Breckenridge as Rachel Carr, fresh out of Teach for America from Alabama) by baiting her with free tickets and then promising to meet her at a closed restaurant. Out of towners! They're so gullible.
When Uncle Jack discovers that Lily and her bad reputation are in charge and he's headed back to Australia, he decides the best idea is to barricade Lily in the powder room and try to rape her. Too bad that didn't work! Once again, Charles is in charge, of our days and our nights...
Too bad Blair isn't in charge: When the headmistress finds out about her little new-teacher trick, her admittance to Yale is yanked pending a semester-long spell in detention. Oh, someone's going down for that -- possibly the same someone who seems ready to seduce Dan and his swoonworthy Brooklyn ways. Oh, it's war all right. (Episode title provided by Dorota -- <3.)
