Why The Host Hotel for The Golden Globes Might Be One of LA's Most Historic Spots

January 9, 2015 at 2:27 PM | by | ()

Stock up on salsa and chips and get start warming up your live-tweet thumbs. The Golden Globes broadcast is happening this Sunday, January 11.

Now in its 72nd year, the annual ceremony has taken place at The Beverly Hilton (in Beverly Hills, duh) every year since 1961. And the setup for this yearís soiree is well underway. Check out the above photo of the under-construction ballroom tweeted by LA Times film writer Amy Kaufman yesterday. Itís nearly ready for its close-up.

While the annual Globes might be the most prominent event to grace The Beverly Hilton, the hotel has ó perhaps unsurprisingly ó a pretty storied history. Several other famous (and infamous) events incidents have gone down at the Hilton over the years, involving celebrities, politicos, and quite a bit of bump-and-grind.

You can see the full list over on HotelChatter but hereís a quick digest of some of the most hotelís most historic marquee moments. And yes, this is all celeb-related. Remember that in LA, celebrity history is like, just as important as like, textbook history, or whatever you call it.

Where the Winners Will Be Partying After the Golden Globes

January 14, 2011 at 11:57 AM | by | ()

Celebrities don't show up at the Golden Globe Awards just for the free drinks and statues; they're also in it for the studio's infamous after-parties.

Most of the post-Globes festivities are held right at The Beverly Hilton, which can cause chaos for those trying to maneuver through the hotel's hallways and elevators. "Itís like throwing a wedding in a hotel where six other weddings are going on, and youíve all invited the same guests," is how one host described it. But, it also makes for easy party-hopping for celebs, and crashers.

Watch the Golden Globes at Alec Baldwin's House (We Wish!)

December 18, 2007 at 8:45 AM | by | ()

Usually when people speculate on the Golden Globes, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's pre-Oscars awards for film and television, they're thinking about whether their favorite actors will take home the big prizes. But this year, the question is: Will anyone even be there to pick up their awards? Because of the strike, the WGA officially rejected the HFPA's request for writers--and it plans to do the same for the Oscars. The Globes might be going out to an empty audience.

If you're an A-lister who can't stand to do nothing on Globes night, January 13, how about going to Alec Baldwin's place? The "30 Rock" star, who's been covering the strike for the Huffington Post, jokingly invited everyone over to his New York apartment for Globes night--and there's even a catering menu! As Baldwin writes:

Beverages are as follows: Liter of red or white wine or 6 (six) cold bottles of Amstel (promotional) complimentary. All other cocktails will be cash bar. (Sprite, Coke, Strawberry YooHoo and Diet Peach Snapple are complimentary.)

Getting drunk in NYC with Alec Baldwin? We only wish he were serious.
