Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler Visit A Delaware County Prison

February 12, 2009 at 9:31 AM | by cmb | 0 Comments

Today, we have an update on “Law Abiding Citizen” starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. They are currently filming at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Delaware County, Penn. The prison plays a central role in the movie as the plot revolves around a D.A. (Foxx) who accepts a plea bargain to release the killers of another man’s family (Butler). After the murderers are released, Gerard Butler’s character seeks personal justice from the D.A. “Law Abiding Citizen” wraps up filming at the prison today.

On the west coast, “Numb3rs” is filming at the California Institute of Technology, 1200 California Blvd, Pasadena, Calif. Caltech is a private research university that also manages the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a NASA department overseeing several unnamed space probes. Caltech seems like a perfect location for the show’s resident geek, Charlie Eppes. If you want to visit the campus as a potential student or novice geek, you can take a tour each weekday during the school year at 11:15 a.m.

Where To Find Jamie Foxx Working in Philadelphia

January 22, 2009 at 8:45 AM | by cmb | 2 Comments

"Law Abiding Citizen", starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is filming in the courtyard of Philadelphia City Hall at 1600 Arch St today. The movie, which started shooting this week, is about a guy who decides to take justice into his own hands after his family’s killer is set free.

We have heard that so far only Jamie Foxx has been on set but he has been talking and posing with waiting fans. Props, plants, trucks and lights are set up on the lawn of City Hall, a sign they are planning on being there for a while. Local media outlets are reporting they will be at the location through at least the end of the week.

Philadelphia has been the backdrop for dozens of movies like "12 Monkeys", "National Treasure", "In Her Shoes", "Beloved" and of course, "Rocky". The city now offers a “Philadelphia In The Movies” Tour. Stops along the route include the Striped Bass Restaurant ("Sixth Sense"), the Philadelphia Museum of Art ("Rocky") and City Hall ("12 Monkeys"). It also provides riders with plenty of behind-the-scenes gossip, trivia and anecdotes. You can book a tour for any group through Philadelphia’s Convention and Visitors site.

Spartans Take Amtrak

January 9, 2009 at 8:45 AM | by egw | 1 Comment

More efficient than marching: "300"'s Gerard Butler was spotted yesterday hopping off an Amtrak train at Philadelphia's 30th Street Station. Toting his own rolling bag and laptop, the actor is in town to film a thriller with Michael Gambon and Jamie Foxx called "Law Abiding Citizen."

You don't have to be a celebrity to ride Amtrak, but you may have trouble getting a seat anyway: Amtrak reported in October that nearly 3 million more people climbed aboard in fiscal year 2008, the sixth straight year when ridership went up. The fastest growing train: The Maine-to-Boston Downeaster.

While the stats didn't break down by month, we're guessing the bulk of those riders were over the summer, when soaring gas prices forced Americans to contemplate a life with less driving. Thank goodness we'll never have to worry about that again!

New LA Restaurant: SHIN

Where: 1600 N Wilcox [map], Los Angeles, CA, United States, 90028
October 17, 2008 at 12:00 PM | by BS | 0 Comments

Actors used to have to win awards to qualify as A-list celebrities, but nowadays you really haven't made it until you open a restaurant.

Gerard Butler of "300" is the latest to join the actor/restaurateur crowd: His Korean BBQ joint SHIN opened in Hollywood earlier this week.

Butler, who was spotted making out with reality star Shanna Moakler at the restaurant opening, has a bevy of celeb-investor friends on board, including music producer Mark Ronson, Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas and DJ Steve Aoki.

Oh yeah, and the food. The traditional Seoul-style dishes--thick sliced pork belly, bone-out marinated beef ribs and BBQ tiger shrimp have us interested in more than just star factor.
