The 2010 Winter Olympics are finally here and the Jaunted Embeds are on the scene. All throughout the games we are going to be providing you first-hand observations and tips from a Vancouver local. My eyes have still not recovered from all the starlight, glitter and sequins I witnessed yesterday at the Pacific Coliseum, the figure skating and short-track speed skating venue. I feel oddly star-struck for having seen all of the world’s best figure skaters, and I'm not even a huge figure-skating fan.
I had tickets for the 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. practice sessions where the Men’s Short Program participants and pairs practiced. As I walked into the almost-empty venue just after 7 a.m., there was the un-retired Evgeni Plushenko from Russia in his sequins, jumping about on the ice!
