We already have a few good ideas of where to spend Fatherís Day with dear olí dad, but thereís one more great getaway we want to suggest as well. For dads that are fans of art and the outdoors, the Pasadena Chalk Festival is a great event for taking in some unique artwork while spending the day in the warm California sun. Itís open and free to all on June 19 and 20, so you can save a few bucks to put towards that steak dinner that your father deserves.
This is the 18th year that the sidewalks have been turned into masterpieces in and around Paseo Colorado in Pasadena, and this year thousands are expected to step on the masterpieces. Organizers expect at least 500 chalk artists to recreate famous paintings in chalk and create their own original artwork.
There's only so many ugly ties and lame golf-related paraphernalia you can buy dad for Father's Day before it becomes a joke.
