It's War of the Wursts in Berlin as Grillwalkers Battle Imitators
Back in 1997, an unemployed former hotel manager named Bertram Rohloff had a brilliant idea. Unable to obtain the necessary permits to open an outdoor sandwich stand, he found a way to circumvent the entire bureaucracy and wound up making portable food vending history. He invented a wearable propane sausage grill that requires no special permit, as neither the grill nor the food ever touches the ground. Thus, Grillwalker was born, a sausage oven with legs that can bring hot sausages to the hungry masses at some of Berlin's most heavily-trafficked urban spaces. As The New York Times points out, Rohloff's 15 sausage walkers are now fixtures at such sites as the Alexanderplatz, bustling Friedrichstrasse train station, and even outside popular nightclubs.

The French Could Care Less if Pharrell Williams Wants a Big Mac
We're not quite sure the employees at this McDonalds in a Paris airport would even care if Pharrell Williams could order a big mac in French--if they ain't open, they ain't open!
The performer/producer popped into the McDonalds wanting some food so desperately he even said he might miss his flight. (Side questions from us: What? Aren't you flying first class? Don't they serve you food in there? You really want Mickey D's that badly?)
Then he launched into a song and Jacko-inspired dance singing, "Big mac, filet o' fish, quarter pounder, french fries, icy cold milkshake, sundaes and apple pie." However, those airport employees could care less. They weren't yet open and when they did open, they would only be serving breakfast. One employee even left the McDonalds, leaving Pharrell totally disappointed that he wasn't getting no "Big mac, filet o' fish, quarter pounder, french fries, icy cold milkshake, sundaes and apple pie."
While we're sure Pharrell found some comfort in first class, we totally can identify with begging McDonalds to serve us a sausage McMuffin at 11am, even though they stopped serving breakfast at 10:30am. That truly is a universal struggle.

What Will McDonald's Look Like In the Future?

Believe it or not, that is what McDonald's will look like in the future.
McDonald’s is an essential part of the travel experience. The American icon meets you before you make it to your gate, it’s often the only place for coffee on the way to the airport, and almost every country on earth has one—like it or not.
That’s why we’re happy to hear Ronald and company are sprucing things up a bit, and have hired a design firm to refresh and update their image. If you’re going to eat some McNuggets you might as well do it in style.

Eating Through the Recession: Even the Recession Special Is Going Up!
For years, New Yorkers and savvy visitors have eaten through good times and lean by relying on the dirt-cheapest deal around: The ubiquitous Gray's Papaya hot dog chain.
Gray's "Recession Special" started nearly 20 years ago--offering two hot dogs and a drink for the ridiculously low price of $1.95. It's crept up to $3.50 over the years, but now it's set to take another massive jump:

New NYC Restaurant: Danku
Ever since Mayor Bloomberg made NYC fast food joints start posting calorie information, the city's lunchtime hordes have felt a good deal queasier about their 1000-plus-calorie meals.
So the eco-conscious Dutch fast food chain Danku picked a good time to expand into Manhattan, bringing its unique comfort food options to a 57th Street location this week.
But don't expect all tofu and veggies here either. The menu features plenty of whole grains and lite options, but there's also the kroket: a deep-fried fritter filled with treats like mac and cheese or chili con carne, as well as Dutch-Indonesian specialties like chicken satay and basmati fried rice.

Theme Parks Travel: Eating with the King
Just when things got a little healthier at the nation's theme parks, Burger King announced that it plans to create its first Whopper Bar next spring at Universal Studios Orlando. The new concept located within CityWalk will be about half the size of a usual restaurant and will try its best to be trendy.
These restaurants will feature all the usual fast-food favorites as well as a more customizable approach to the traditional burger that they're calling the Whopper Topper area.
If things go well in Orlando, officials are planning to open several more burger bars in other high traffic locations--like your local airport.

Naptime in Tokyo McDonald's
This Youtube video shows what happens at a McDonald's restaurant in the Akasaka, Tokyo after the bars close. The clip shows at least seven people sleeping off a night of heavy drinking in the booths at Mickey D's. Some of these sleepyheads were probably stranded when the Tokyo Metro closed down for the evening.
Miraculously, the staff doesn't seem to care that their restaurant is being used as a flophouse. This type of thing would never happen in the States. When we used to work at Starbucks in Manhattan, junkies and drunks would pass out in the bathrooms and we'd chase them out with mops. Guess foreign fast food joints are just a haven for assorted weirdness. For more proof, check out our clip of the dancing waiters at Pizza Hut in India.
