Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, and Geoffrey Rush are back in their pirate garb.

In the third installment, out today, Captain Barbossa, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann must sail off the edge of the map, navigate all sorts of unseemly pirate troubles, and make their final alliances for one last decisive battle, unless they all get enough money to do a fourth movie that is.

Parts of the movie were once again filmed in the Bahamas and Dominica.

Dominica Rides Year Of The Pirate

Where: Dominica

Late last year we told you Dominica had all the makings of a classic "it" travel destination.

Island, beaches, waterfalls, eco-tourism, dive sites, and river tubing--that should do it right? Well, in this day in age you need a reality television series to create the perfect tourism storm, and starting May 31, Dominica will get its reality series.

Mark Burnett's new TV Reality series "Pirate Master" was filmed in Dominica in March and April, 2007. The show is some sort of pirate adventure loosely based on the old Henry Steel legend. Basically, he or she who proves to be the hardiest pirate will walk away with $1 million.

This isn't Dominica's first time under the pop culture spotlight--Pirates of the Caribbean II and III were also filmed, in part, on the island.

Getting There
You can connect to DOM via Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia and San Juan.

Dominica is also served by two high-speed ferries from Martinique, Guadeloupe and St. Lucia. The Ferry Terminal is located in the capital, Roseau.

Where to Stay
Jungle Bay Resort is Dominica's chicest lodge.

The New York Times' Caribbean Special

Where: Dominica

The Times went Caribbean-crazy this weekend. It was a nice Sunday surprise for those closer to the East Coast, who are probably apt to suffer from a bit of burnout over the region. Let's face it: if you're spoiled, yeah, at times the Caribbean can seem a little passé. Most of it is just so easy to get to.

But we're interested again, thanks in part to bits on Dominica and Martinique. Hotel Chatter tipped you off to the Jungle Bay hotel in Dominica back in the day, and the Times revisits to remind you how much you want to stay there. At $249 (including meals) in high season, it's affordable compared to the competition. Of course, Dominica doesn't have any classic Caribbean beaches, and you'll have to explain and re-explain to your buddies that no, you weren't just in the Dominican Republic.

We're not sure about taking that Club Med charter to Martinique, but we love the sound of its culinary scene: "We change the menu every 10 days because we refuse to be bored," one restaurant owner told the Times. Plus, there's a rum museum!
