X-Men Origins: Bolt's Safe Haven in Florida

May 1, 2009 at 8:56 AM | by cmb | 0 Comments

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is set to hit theaters Friday May 1st, and with so much drama in the XMO we put together the beginnings of a travel map that takes you to some of the places the Marvel crew have come from and gone to over the years. This is an organic map, so feel free to add to it in comments and we will plot the additional travel spots we find there.

Lost's Dominic Monaghan originally signed on to X-Men Origins: Wolverine to play Barnell “Beak” Bohusk, a mutant who grew feathers early in his life. But somewhere along the line, Beak was out and Monaghan's character became Chris Bradley, the electrical-powered mutant known as Bolt.

Bolt faced his fair share of adversity early on for being a mutant. His home was burned down by mutant-haters, who he assumed to be the Friends of Humanity group. He recruited the help of Maverick, Iceman and Wolverine to seek revenge on the Friends. After defeating them, Maverick helped his family create new identities as The Johnsons and relocated them to Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Altamonte Springs is located in the heart of mouse territory, about 20 miles north of Orlando, a far cry from the small, traveling carnival that Bolt ends up working at. This spring you'll be able to belly up to a burger bar at City Walk as Burger King opens it's first Whopper Bar with a Whopper Topper area. But you'll still have to wait a few months for the Universal Studios' Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster. Perhaps you can try switching off the light bulb at a local carnival instead.

Post-TV Travel: Dominic Monaghan's Next Career

March 12, 2008 at 9:10 AM | by egw | 1 Comment

Still mourning the sacrifice of noble, adorable Charlie on "Lost"? Actor Dominic Monaghan is carrying on with his film career with, among other things, a role in the upcoming "Wolverine" spin-off movie, but he's also looking back at his "Lost" times with a new photography exhibit in LA.

Monaghan allegedly is also an occasional back-up singer and co-wrote three tracks on Viggo Mortensen's album. [Ed note: Who has this album? We want it!]

Fame chasers might rather spot J.J. Abrams and other cast mates in his photos than try to listen for the dulcet tones showcased in "We All Everybody." The exhibit opens tomorrow at the Hamilton-Selway Gallery in Hollywood.
