The Official Opening of The Wizarding World Comes with a Nine-Hour Line
And that's a wrap for both this week and for the long period of waiting that Harry Potter fans have endured. This morning at 10am EST, the Hogsmeade archway at Universal Studios' new Wizarding World of Harry Potter finally allowed regular muggles to pass beneath it.
The story of the time however, is not that Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint (Harry Potter and Ron Weasley in the movies, respectively) did the honors of opening the park, but that those who had come to be the first in, had camped out for almost twelve hours outside of the Universal Studios entrance before they were let into the park earlier this morning. Since The Wizarding World only has a capacity of somewhere near 9,000 people, the almost mile-long line (a 9-hour wait!) of guests barely had a dent made in it.

Harry, Dumbledore and More Light Up Hogwarts Castle at Universal Studios
Last night in Orlando, Harry Potter's Hogwarts Castle was born. Sure it was constructed over a period of many months at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure park, but the evening marked the official lighting of the castle and the first time that the stars of the Harry Potter films all got together to give their blessing to the new theme parkThe Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
It won't officially open to the public until this Friday, June 18, but the park welcomes the likes of media and special guests for a frolick at dusk, where many drank down frothy mugs of slushy Butterbeer and already formed lines to purchase wands from Ollivander's Wand Shop.

Last Chance For Several Mainstage Hits This Month
It's closin' time! New York visitors hoping to catch up on some recent Broadway hits better hurry up in this record month of shuttering shows.
Already in January, top earners like "Hairspray" and "Spamalot" and seasonal hits like "Slava's Snowshow" and "White Christmas" have closed their doors. This week, the much-TONY'd "Gypsy" and the Katie Holmes vehicle "All My Sons" joins them; next week, it's time for Best New Musical winner "Spring Awakening." Judging by last week's grosses, Best Play winner "August: Osage County," Daniel Radcliffe nudie pick "Equus" and Piven's folly "Speed-the-Plow" will be next.
On the bright side, now that you know these are not long for this world, you can stop by the new TKTS booth--now accepting credit cards for the insolvent!--in Times Square for some last-minute sales. Given flexibility, theater crazies might indeed find it to be the most wonderful time of the year after all.

Adventures of Link: Daniel Radcliffe's Wand of Destiny

Suddenly-super-hot Daniel Radcliffe will make his Broadway debut this fall, when he and the cast of "Equus" visit New York City. We assume you've already heard that the now-18-year-old star will appear naked on-stage for at least part of the production.
While we wouldn't call that the best reason to go see some theater, we can't deny it'll drive some ticket sales. Just know this: "Equus" isn't the kind of kid-friendly show you might expect from the "Harry Potter" actor. Previews at the Broadhurst Theatre start September 5; opening night is 9/25.
