The TSA is Eager to Strip Search Your Wrapped Holiday Gifts

November 15, 2011 at 11:10 AM | by | Comments (0)

While we don't get all of our news from watching Conan O'Brien late at night—okay just most of it. kidding. maybe.—he did make a sharp joke in last night's monologue. Noting that the TSA will unwrap all wrapped holiday gifts at airport security points this season—the first time they've been this thorough with it—Conan joked that they're doing this because they "need a break from looking at your junk all day."

Oh yes, and don't forget that they'll confiscate your snow globes like usual.

Some clarification from the TSA's "Blogger Bob" on the issue:

Conan Goofs on TSA Baby Pat-down: The Video

May 13, 2011 at 12:26 PM | by | Comments (0)

The comedy is in reference to this story, which you've probably already heard about, where TSA agents at MCI pulled aside a baby after its stroller triggered an explosives alarm. A pastor named Jacob Jester snapped a photo of the subsequent patdown and uploaded it to yfrog/Twitter—because that's where all news starts—and from there it went viral. Then last Wednesday Conan did a bit on it, and now we're posting the Conan clip, and that children, is the Internet circle of life.

Regarding the actual substance of the story...yeah, listen. This is going to be one of those rare times when we come down on TSA's side. Airports are on heightened alert in the aftermath of the Bin Laden killing. Terrorists have tried to smuggle bombs into planes before by planting them even on pregnant women. The baby's stroller tested positive for traces of explosives. What did you expect the TSA agents to do? Not give the kid a once-over?

November 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM | by | Comment (1)

Conan O'Brien may have been banished to cable, but his fans don't seem to care. Tickets for Conan's new show, the aptly titled Conan on TBS, have already been snatched up through the end of the year.

All requests for tickets must be made via the calendar at Team CoCo.com/Tickets. To requests tickets, all you have to do is click on the desired date (choose wisely though because you can only request one) and fill out a short form. The next available date for tickets is January 10, but they have not been released yet.

Where to See Conan's Big Orange Blimp This Month, and Get the Foursquare Badge

October 11, 2010 at 2:30 PM | by | Comments (0)

If you're in New Jersey today and spot a large orange blip in the sky, don't be alarmed; its just Conan O'Brien. The talk show host is celebrating his new show, which debuts November 8 on TBS, with the The Conan Blimp. So far, it's been spotted hovering over Sesame Place, Pennsylvania, New York City and Game One of the NLDS game between the Reds and Phillies in Philadelphia.

You can follow the blimp's every move live via the Live Cam, and map its (very slow) progress on the Live Map, both of which can be found at TeamCoco.com.

How To Get Tickets To See Conan O'Brien on Tour This Spring

March 11, 2010 at 12:56 PM | by | Comments (0)

Today, devoted fans of Conan O'Brien finally got the message they've been waiting weeks for:

"Hey Internet: I'm headed to your town on a half-assed comedy & music tour. Go to http://TeamCoco.com for tix. I repeat: It's half-assed."

That's right, Conan O'Brien made the announcement this morning via Twitter that he is going on tour, because, as he put it, it was either go on tour or "start helping out around the house."

The 2-month, 30-city tour kicks off on April 12th in Eugene, OR and "promises to be a night of music, comedy, hugging, and the occasional awkward silence," according to Teamcoco.com, which is already overloaded with web traffic.

The tour, entitled "Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television" in honor of the clause in his contract with NBC that keeps him off TV until September, will also include sidekick Andy Richter and the former "Tonight Show" band.

What you need to know, after the jump!

Jaunted Goes Behind-The-Scenes At The Tonight Show

September 30, 2009 at 2:01 PM | by | Comment (1)

Last week we measured exactly how "L.A." Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien and his comedic antics have been thus far (the answer: "Sooooo L.A."), and today, we give you an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at a show taping experience. You already know how to score free tickets, but what happens once you receive the coveted e-mail confirmation that you—yes, you—will spend an afternoon around the likes of Conan, announcer Andy Richter and The Max Weinberg 7?

In the Waiting Line

One of the instructions you'll receive in the confirmation from NBC is to arrive no later than 3:30 PM for the taping, which starts promptly at 5:00 PM. There is a special paid lot designated for parking on Universal Studios' grounds, but if you're willing to walk a few blocks, you can find neighborhood parking around the corner off of Cahuenga. Be sure to note street restrictions, though, because Universal's $8 fee beats a $40-60 parking ticket any day.

Much more after the jump...

Three Months Into 'The Tonight Show,' Conan Goes Native In LA

Where: Los Angeles, CA
September 23, 2009 at 1:58 PM | by | Comments (0)

Conan O'Brien, who we love for his flaming red pompadour and self-deprecating humor, is just over three months into his tenure as host of The Tonight Show. Taking over the role vacated by his smug comic counterpart Jay Leno required a move to Los Angeles, a major change for the East Coast-born-and-bred O'Brien, though we should note that he has lived in LA before, when he was working as a writer on an HBO show.

New York's subway system is countered by LA's Beemer-packed freeways and a metro line with limited city stops. New York has blistering winters, while LA has seen temperatures in the '80s in January. Suffice it to say, the cities couldn't be more different, so we've been wondering how Conan has acclimated to the change, and just how Angeleno this New Yorker can get. Exactly how long will it be until he adopts Valley girl-speak? Let's find out, after the jump.

How To Score Tickets To Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show

Where: Los Angeles, CA
June 1, 2009 at 11:02 AM | by | Comments (0)

After months of build up and speculation, we'll finally see tonight how Conan O'Brien does as the host of The Tonight Show. On Friday, Jay Leno passed the torch to Conan on what he dubbed, "the season finale of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

During the interview, Conan gave an audience member, Christian Boback, two tickets to his first show since Christian is the only known person to be at both the last live taping of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Jay's first taping in 1992.

Nothing Funny About Enfranchisement

November 5, 2008 at 9:00 AM | by | Comments (0)

Conan O'Brien is incredibly ill-disguised as he waits at a Manhattan polling place to cast his vote yesterday. Funny, he looks a lot shorter on TV.

Celebs who weren't getting out the vote brought themselves to the polls yesterday in a year of higher than average turn-out. British-born Anna Wintour waited in New York's SoHo with the plebes--no red carpet into the poll station. And Diddy, whose 2004 "Vote or Die" movement proved a lot of young people would actually rather die than vote, brought news cameras into the voting booth with him.

But Tim Robbins found himself a victim of voting irregularities when his name was missing from the local rolls. Apparently Robbins protested being handed a provisional ballot, whose impact has been shown to be questionable when it comes to the final tally.
