Chris Brown Becomes Roadside Attraction During His Community Service
Yesterday, we may have peeked in on Rihanna at the airport, leaving New York after a summer of roller coaster riding and performing at Madison Square Garden. Meanwhile, her ex and convicted domestic abuser Chris Brown has been enjoying a little vacation of his own; a road trip of sorts.
As his sentencing for beating up Rihanna many months ago, Brown must serve 180 days of community service. He just recently began his work near his home in Virginia, and they've assigned him to the roadside clean-up crew. Although he may not be in the same spot every day, since they can have him "washing government cars, picking up trash and cleaning up graffiti," so long as he's still a roadside attraction, he'll be a popular stop for Virginia road trippers.

No Umbrella-ella-ella Needed for Rihanna and Chris Brown
As far away as they thought they were getting from the world's prying eyes, it wasn't far enough: After their Grammy-weekend altercation, Rihanna and Chris Brown have both been spotted in tropical climes.
The Barbados songstress was originally pegged to have flown home after the attack, but she later took some friends with her to Punta Mita, Mexico for a few days of R&R. She rented a private villa where she and her guests were seen hanging out by the pool and playing volleyball -- with little trace of the injuries displayed in photos of that fateful night.
Meanwhile, Chris Brown was spotted jet-skiing in Miami at Diddy's house on Star Island. But People magazine reports that Rihanna has joined him there. Sources inside the house say the two are reconciling, but they have not been seen out in public together. Meanwhile, Chris heads back to L.A. today for his arraignment -- Rihanna is not required or expected to appear.

The Kindle 2.0 To Be Seen in Business Class Near You
With so much travel news raining down on us, we don't always have time to give every story its own forecast. Here's more of the day's news, in brief.
· Kindle 2.0 Arrives: Frequent travelers will be happy to know that the new Kindle is "lighter, brighter and chattier." Unfortunately, it still has a bit of sticker shock at $349. [NY Times]
· Chris Brown's Rental Car (and Rihanna) Hell: We all know that Chris Brown and Rihanna has an alteraction over the weekend but TMZ is reporting that the Lamborghini Brown rented from an exotic rental car company, Platinum Motorsport, is still sitting in lock-up at a cost of $2,000 a day. Oops. Hopefully that should teach him not to beat up on his girlfriend. [TMZ]
· Continental Goes Shanghai from EWR: Starting March 25, Continental will have direct daily flights to Shanghai from Newark Liberty International Airport. Fares are starting at $777 round-trip. [Time, 5th item]

Rihanna's Making A List, Checking It Twice
Got your holiday shopping done yet? Rihanna picked up a few last-minute things with boyfriend Chris Brown at the Louis Vuitton store in Paris over the weekend. They performed on a French reality show called "Star Academy," after which it was time for a romantic dinner and a few errands.
Rihanna may not find just what she wants at LV for Christmas, but she's got something bigger to look forward to in 2009: The RIAA just announced the pint-size popstress will perform at their inaugural ball for charity. It's a benefit for Feeding America, so at least attendees will know their ticket money isn't going towards persecuting sketchy file-sharing cases!

It's A Very Rihanna Christmas
Rihanna arrives at New York's La Guardia airport on Sunday with a stylin' scarf but sans her usual partner in crime, fellow singer and maybe-boyfriend Chris Brown.
The pair performed at New York's traditional Z100 Jingle Ball, where they performed together: The Times wrote Brown's "energy seemed uncentered, except when Rihanna came out to alternate verses with him on 'Cinderella' (the remix of her song 'Umbrella') and 'Live Your Life' (her new song with T. I.): Mr. Brown ran around her like a tetherball whipping around a post." So, maybe he was too tired to travel the day after? Katy Perry, David Archuleta and Kanye West also performed. So it was just like your family parties, but without any ugly Christmas sweaters.

Rihanna And Chris Brown Legally Joined (In Lawsuit)
They'll be bound together by the court documents: Chris Brown and Rihanna were served with a $1 million lawsuit in Florida seeking damages for theft and battery.
Photographer Luis Santana was trying to get a picture of the glam yet much-tattooed couple in St. Petersburg outside their limo when bodyguards chased him off. Not satisfied with that, they allegedly followed him, beat him up and stole his $3,000 camera. And now Santana wants the singers to pay up or else.
Neither Chris nor Rihanna have commented on the lawsuit but her publicist urged that newsmakers "give attention to the positive things in the world," even invoking the recession as a reason the lawsuit wasn't news. How about the fact that neither star was nominated for a Grammy, passed over for Leona Lewis and the Jonas Brothers?

Rihanna Stopped The Music In Jakarta
What, Chris Brown can't watch her back? Mere days after running off the stage during a concert in Sydney, Rihanna is canceling a show in Indonesia over "security concerns."
After delivering an underwhelming set in Singapore last night, plagued by sound problems and marked by truncated versions of her hits instead of bonus concert cuts, the R&B princess is now backing away from tonight's sold-out show because, according to her reps, of recently updated Australian security warnings. Apparently Indonesia's neighbor to the south is concerned that the execution of three Islamic militants this week could cause reprisals, and Rihanna just didn't want to take her chances on the 6,000-strong crowd.
The prevailing theory is that Rihanna is pulling an M.I.A. and hiding a baby bump, potentially related to the aforementioned Brown. Gossip blog Bossip has already named the baby Chrianna, which gave us a little chuckle.

What's Wrong With Rihanna?
When a pop star rushes offstage, there's usually a costume change at hand. But pop star Rihanna never returned to do the second half of "Umbrella" at a concert in Sydney over the weekend. Thank goodness boyfriend Chris Brown was there to cover for her.
Thanks to the magic of cameraphones, we can see Rihanna's run off the stage, for which her rep blamed a combination of overheating, dehydration and the smoke effects used in the show. Another doctor criticized her skintight suits in which she classically performs for not letting the singer breathe. So if you're holding tickets for a forthcoming Rihanna concert, you may want to have a plan B.

Airport Photo Shoot: Rihanna and Chris Plan Their Escape
How do two hot R&B stars make their getaway? In extraneous layers, apparently! Rihanna and Chris Brown are heading back to the US from Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados (where she was born), but they sure don't look as if they were just on the beach!
Rihanna has the rest of the summer off from touring, while Brown has one more concert on Wednesday before taking a tour break. Hopefully they'll have time for a less stressful vacation.

Summer Date Travel: Rihanna And Chris Brown Are Amused
Chris Brown and Rihanna made like a high school couple and recently enjoyed a day at the amusement park at Paramount's Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia. Aww, see, he's holding her stuff so she can go on the coasters!
Both singers have signed on to play VH-1 and Vogue's annual "Fashion Rocks" concert in New York City September 9, along with Beyonce, chart-topper Lil' Wayne and up-and-coming British chanteuse Duffy. Get your tickets now for the Radio City Music Hall event!
