Traveling like a celebrity can be hard work, especially when you have to stop to say Jagshemash to all your fans along the way. The comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, who instigated a nationwide rise in lawsuits last year as the Kazakh reporter Borat, was recently spotted relaxing with a chair massage at Vancouver International Airport. He no longer sports the bushy mustache of his alter ego, but fans spotted him anyway, according to the New York Daily News.
Of course, if Baron Cohen was handling his own luggage--as he is in the above photo, accompanied by actress-fiancee Isla Fisher--maybe he deserved that massage.
Charlize Theron was trying to get some shut-eye at the Vancouver International Airport before dashing off to catch her plane. The "Monster" star has been in Vancouver while filming "Battle in Seattle" about the 1999 World Trade Organization riots. We're just surprised she's slumming it with the little people by the gate. Aren't Oscar winners supposed to hang out in the "exclusive" airport lounges?
Ah, making fun of celebrities: it's been fun since the dawn of time, and with every new advance in technology, we can do it better and more effectively. For instance, makeup, lighting, and airbrushing all conspire to make Renee Zellweger attractive, making unstaged shots of her all the more delightful, in an evil sort of way. All of this has nothing to do, really, with her movie shooting at the Vancouver Art Gallery, but odd-looking celebrities are more interesting than art, anyway.
One could argue that becoming more unpleasant the more famous you get is also an art form, in which case we submit Exhibit A: Jessica Alba. No tales of bitchery yet this week, but she's back in town shooting Fantastic Four. We won't have to wait long before she unleashes herself upon the public again. And Mark Wahlberg, who seemed perfectly cordial during his stay in Vancouver, ended on a down note when he was a total poopy pants at his wrap party - and we have photographic evidence!

Chasing Vancouver is back from our break and it looks like Vancouver was full of location spotting over the long weekend. While multiple tipsters informed us that Good Luck Chuck was set up and filming at Howe and West Hastings over the weekend, there is a reason none of you spotted Jessica Alba. She has taken her dog, and her boyfriend, and gone back to Cali.
Yup, the photo above is actually of JA in the comfy surroundings of So Cal. That's right Vancouver, you don't have Jessica Alba to kick around any longer, er or maybe you won't get kicked around by Alba bitchiness any longer, at least until she returns to BC to film Fantastic Four II. That is if they don't make all of FF2 on a computer.
Voncouverites also gave Andy Samberg some love this past weekend, but one tipster who shared drinks with Mr. Samberg at Columbia wants him remember he owes a couple folks a drink or two up there.
While some folks were spotting filming locales, others were beginning to plot their party crashing strategies for the Vancouver International Film Festival, which kicks off later this month.

The Fairmont Vancouver Airport is a rather unassuming luxury hotel--certainly one of the nicest ones that you'll find connected to a terminal--but it has a special feature that we are quite sure Jessica Alba will not be availing herself of anytime soon. Because many of their clients go fishing as part of their visits to Vancouver, the Fairmont has their own fish freezer.
While it's not quite the same as a fish concierge, they will also prepare the fish for you, should you wish to eat it at the restaurant in the hotel. Otherwise, they'll just keep it chilly for you until it's time to go home.
Speaking of chilly, the Chasing Vancouver map is on ice for the week, and will return after Labor Day. If you see Jessica Alba sex hair or anything else of note up there, though, don't hesitate to send us a tip.
As if to prove that movies aren't just filmed in Vancouver because it's cheap, this week various productions did location shoots at landmarks unique to the city. Mark Wahlberg was shooting scenes at GM Place, headquarters for west coast hockey, and a plain old huge stadium. Pierce Brosnan shot at the Hotel Europe, which isn't actually a hotel anymore but is still considered architecturally important, as an early and prime example of a flatiron building. Finally, Vancouver is known for its beaches, so the Jessica Alba and Dane Cook movie Good Luck Chuck took advantage of that with a shoot at one of Stanley Park's more historical beaches.

Man, those celebrities sure are hogs! Big fat gluttonous pigs who won't stop eating! Just look at Halle Berry - give the chewing a rest, lady!
All kidding aside, she's living proof that some people just have faster metabolisms. She showed up in Vancouver last week and apparently hasn't done anything but eat since then. She's been joined in gluttonous bliss by Jessica Alba, Mark Wahlberg, and Benicio del Toro; in fact, they were all at the same restaurant within a few days of each other. It must be a light work week because they celebrities are just hanging out in Vancouver - Hayden Christensen was out on the beach enjoying the weather. And eating a hot dog, because that's what celebs do in Vancouver, apparently. But the King of Gourmandville crown goes to Pierce Brosnan who apparently like-a da pasta. Everywhere you look he's checking out a new restaurant, but he does appear to have a favorite: he went back to West Restaurant with his coworkers after, as we reported, checking it out last week on his own.

Oh, and did you hear us waxing poetic about Chasing Vancouver on the radio yesterday? We spent "seven minutes in heaven" with Priya Ramu on CBC. Thanks to Chasing Vancouver tipster Dane, who joined us on the radio.
We have exciting same-day news: today Good Luck Chuck will be filming at the Coal Harbour Community Center today, so those who want to head over have a good shot at a Dane Cook or Jessica Alba sighting. Bring your cameras, but remember, don't make her mad! She bites.
Once again, the movie and celebrity action is concentrated in the West End, which we are sure is a lovely place, but c'mon, Vancouverites - let us know about other awesome neighborhoods in your fair city! David Duchovny arrived early in Vancouver to check out the scene before he starts work on Things We Lost in the Fire, while Pierce Brosnan just keeps on charming the locals. He's even doing the men of Vancouver a favor by introducing his reportedly comely assistant to all and sundry. Thanks, Pierce!
