HotelChatter Editrix Juliana reports from the Jersey Shore this past weekend:
Ahh...the Jersey Shore. So there was a problem awhile back with hypodermic needles and used condoms washing up on the beach, but these shore people are resilient when it comes to getting tan, playing house music and filming MTV specials.
However, this Memorial Weekend the scene in uppity Spring Lake was a bit calmer than oh say, Seaside Heights.
On Friday night, people were still making their way in the rain on the Garden State Parkway, leaving the bar scene rather tame. On Saturday, the Spring Lake 5 race took place with nearly 10,000 people participating. Since 1977, the annual race has raised money for the town's recreation department and school system.
Once the race was done, the bar scene picked up, with people partying at legendary hangouts like the Parker House. This is the type of place where your parents got drunk and made out when they were 20-something, as did your aunts and uncles, older siblings, and probably your younger siblings, too.
Set in an old Victorian-style house a block from the beach, the place has a restaurant and even rooms upstairs to rent for the summer. But no one really cares/knows about that. They just care about the beer, the dancing and of course, the making out.
