Missed Connections in Las Vegas: Movie Set Travel Edition

This weekend's major movie release "What Happens In Vegas" promises to kill off the entire tourism trade to Nevada's largest city. Once people get the idea, however malformed, that an innocuous trip to Vegas could get you hitched to Ashton Kutcher without possibility of parole, no one will ever want to visit Sin City again!

Actually, even a movie this execrable probably can't keep people from going to Vegas. So, have fun, go mad and meet a cutie at one of these hot spots:

Hofbrauhaus :: It wouldn't occur to us to try to pick up hot guys at a German/Bavarian restaurant--sauerkraut breath is a killer!--but maybe if they're German and nude... 4510 Paradise Rd.

Ghost Bar :: HotelChatter has spotted Paris and Tara Reid at this rooftop club at the Palms, but you can meet regular people (and Canadians) there too. 4321 W. Flamingo Rd.

Krave :: Its reputation as an LGBT hot spot precedes it, but if you like drag karaoke, relatively cheap covers ($10 in Vegas is like 10 cents anywhere else) and "gorgeous" girls with pink hair, you'll enjoy it too. 3663 S. Las Vegas Blvd.

So Cameron and Marty Walk Into The White House...

While many stars were gearing up for the Movies Rock event in Hollywood last night, Cameron Diaz spent her Sunday in the usually star-barren* city of Washington, DC, paying tribute to director Martin Scorsese at this year's Kennedy Center Honors. The director, who worked with Diaz on 2002's "Gangs of New York," heard tributes from her and frequent Scorsese player Robert DeNiro.

Also honored at the Kennedy Center (and allowed to pose with President Bush) were Steve Martin, Diana Ross, pianist Leon Fleisher and Brian Wilson. But only lucky Scorsese can now hang his rainbow-ribboned medal on his Oscar for last year's "The Departed."

*unless you consider Rahm Emanuel or James Sensenbrenner stars... which we not-so-secretly do.

We Know Where Cameron Diaz Pahked Her Cah

Well, okay, Cameron Diaz probably didn't drive herself to the set of her new movie "The Box" outside Boston, Massachusetts. But is there ever a bad time to use the fake Boston accent, especially when the actress got some chowdah and oystahs at the Union Oyster House? She also indulged in fish and chips there, skipping the tourist trap "Cheers" restaurant.

Diaz is shooting "The Box," directed by "Donnie Darko" and "Southland Tales" auteur Richard Kelly. The film, which also stars James Marsden, is about a couple who finds itself no longer able to speak the King's English. Oh, we kid! Diaz and Marsden find a mysterious, possibly wish-granting box in their doorstep--hopefully not the kind Naomi Watts found in "Mulholland Drive."

Cameron Diaz Travel Tip: Watch Your Messenger Bag

Where: Peru

Cameron Diaz was caught making an unwitting faux pas while being filmed for MTV Canada abroad this week. Her crime? Wearing a messenger bag printed with Maoist slogans -- in Peru, a country where Communist terrorist group the the Shining Path has been responsible for some 70,000 deaths and disappearances since the 1980s.

Diaz wrote in a statement to the press, "It was certainly never my intention to reopen what I now know is a painful wound in this country's history." The incident is definitely making us look at our travel wardrobe with new eyes.

Airport Photo Shoot: Cameron Diaz At ICN In Korea

Where: Korea

Cameron Diaz just landed at the award winning Incheon International Airport to promote Shrek the Third.

This fairly new airport is situated on Yeongjong Island, 40 kilometers to the west of Seoul, and is, like most airports constantly expanding. If you land or have a layover at ICN you can look forward to shopping at the Shinsegae Department store, which avails lazy travelers the opportunity to procure last Kimchi gifts for those back home. Furthermore, the airport even sports a dental clinic, just in case you need a teeth whitening, or a root canal.

By 2010 there should be a reasonable public transport link from the Airport to Seoul, in the form of The Incheon International Airport Railroad. Unfortunately today, you will have to use the subway at Incheon station, public buses, or a taxi to get yourself to Seoul from the airport.

Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore at LAX

Where: 1 World Way [map], Los Angeles, ca, United States, 90045

The paparazzi videography boom isn't going away anytime soon. That's happy news, we guess, for us, but not so much for celebrity travelers. Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, the airport was a place where a lesser celebrity might be left alone and allowed to look a bit haggard. Not anymore, and now they'll really catch you in action.

Not that Cameron and Drew look bad here, but they were probably looking forward to a short flight anyway. The two were recently snapped and recorded at LAX checking in at the American Eagle counter and making their way through security. As you can see, they are true travelers of the people, and even stopped to sign autographs and pet puppies. Does this mean AAdvantage is their frequent flyer program of choice?

JustinTimberlake and Cameron Diaz Reunite At Private Bar

Where: 1200 Alta Loma Road [map], West Hollywood, CA, United States, 90069

Some nights out require a more intimate setting -- whether you're trying to romance a shy new flame or planning on getting back together with an ex. That must have been what Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz were thinking last week when they met at the exclusive Whiskey Bar in West Hollywood's Sunset Marquis Hotel.

According to People magazine, Justin was having dinner with Martin Scorsese -- whose Irish mobsters in "The Departed" might have found the bar more amenable to doing business than the Indian grocery stores and porn theatres they used -- and slipped away with Cameron sometime after 1 a.m., after which they left the bar together.

Bar entry is restricted to hotel guests and assorted other A-listers, but if you book now you can stay Easter weekend (April 6-8) starting at $250 per night for a "junior suite." Ex-boy-band member not included.
