They faked us out once before, so we'll be super careful in announcing that allegedlyAngelina Jolie checked into a hospital yesterday to go on bed rest before she gives birth to the latest Super World Travelers, the twins she is expecting with Brad Pitt.
The babes, reportedly twin girls, will have dual French citizenship because she's currently resting in L'Hopital Lenval in Nice.
"Entertainment Tonight" led the charge in late May to declare that the twins, reportedly due in August, had already been born. Turned out it was just a rumor, possibly spread by an ex-Super Traveler sidekick (er, assistant). This time it was the French media's turn to jump the gun on the planned expansion to America's real first family. But if she were just there for a checkup, would her obstetrician be giving a press conference? We think not!
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had a quiet date night on Saturday in London after arriving at Luton Airport earlier that day. This time, the Super World Travelers are promoting Jolie's turn as Grendel's mom in Robert Zemeckis' "Beowulf"--and maybe we weren't paying attention in English class, but we didn't realize Grendel's mom was so good-looking. Brangelina braved the paparazzi's flashes to enjoy a dinner of Japanese food at Roka.
Most of Luton Airport's business comes not from private-jet fliers, but from budget carriers like easyJet and Ryanair. (The all-business class airline Silverjet operates there, too.) It's even the subject of a reality series in the UK. So the next time someone gives you grief for not flying through Heathrow, tell them, "If it's good enough for Brangelina..."
Remember when Senator John McCain told CNN Iraq was so safe he could walk through its neighborhoods--and then he did so with like 100 armed guards? Well, sir, Angelina Jolie has just upped the ante. The actress and Original Super World Traveler snuck off to a UN refugee camp in Iraq yesterday to talk to displaced people trying to gain admittance to Syria. As a goodwill ambassador she has also visited camps in Sierra Leone, Pakistan and Sudan's Darfur region.
Obviously Jolie had her bodyguard present, and probably other back-up support. But just wait till you see our "Angelina '08" bumper stickers! (As a Super World Traveler, she'll be a lock for our candidate travel map.)
The State Department's guidelines on Iraq travel note that terrorists are targeting civil aviation, vehicular travel within the country is very dangerous and that "the Embassy can provide only limited emergency services to U.S. citizens in Iraq."
Welcome home, Super World Travelers! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie touched down in Chicago yesterday with their entire clan, after going from Prague to Vietnam and everywhere in between.
Angelina is putting the finishing touches on "Wanted," the thriller she was shooting in Prague earlier this summer. Too bad she's not back there because in Chicago, she'll have to share her turf with the cast of "The Dark Knight," the new Batman movie.
Christian Bale, Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart have all been spotted in and around the W Lakeshore Hotel, which is apparently quite Gothamesque.
According to ever-reliable Star Magazine, Angelina Jolie is a very special kind of Super World Traveler...a teleporting one. Despite People's reports that Angie spent at least Friday in Vietnam, Star put her in Santa Monica with son Maddox that morning. Yeah, we know about the date line, but this one's not happening.
Star claims that a "source" spotted Ms. Jolie and her son at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica (the hotel's celebrity fans include Britney Spears) on Friday morning. She supposedly plunked down $700--a nightly rate--for a 2 hour stay she wanted to use just for freshening up.
That's a standard Shutters bathroom above--you can take a full Flash tour on their website. Shutters pushes its amenities--everything from the bathrobe to the shampoo--pretty hard on its page, so you can purchase the same stuff celebrities have used according to sources, perhaps or perhaps not during a $700, 2 hour stay. And to think we've ever balked at a sub-$700 late check out fee. How pedestrian!
Just one half of Brangelina escaped the cold this weekend and skipped out on playoff football games, taking a quick surprise trip to Vietnam.
Reports say that Angie arrived solo on Friday morning in Ho Chi Minh City, sparking rumors that she and Brad Pitt plan on adopting from Vietnam. The two visited Vietnam together back in November, when they were snapped riding a motorcycle through the city together (not usually so easy for the first-time tourist) and reportedly stayed at the Park Hyatt Hotel.
According to People, Angelina was there to make an appearance on behalf of the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Project, the charity she founded to aid son Maddox's birthplace, Cambodia. HCM City seems to be turning into one of her favorite destinations in the region--but does Jolie read Noodlepie?
The Super World Travelers are back in the U.S. for good, at least for a while. Brad and Angelina have announced they've bought a $3.5 million, six-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath mansion (their fourth house) in New Orleans' French Quarter, and they intend to stay.
The pair will settle down from their crazy-hectic schedules of jetting around the world to stay in town while Brad films The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Angelina plans on playing it low-key and befriending the local soccer mom set, saying:
"We love it there. The kids are going to go to school there. We're really looking forward to it."
Apparently they've already been mixing with the locals too, seen at Angeli on Decatur, a popular (cash only) pizza joint in the French Quarter--perfect for kids, of course. May we suggest Zagat's new guide to New Orleans dining if they're looking for variety?
The Super World Travelers themselves, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, are our celeb travelers of the year. Paris Hilton gave them a run for their money, as did Sienna Miller with her famous Pittsburgh excursion, but Brangelina won out. After all, they did single-handedly boost interest and tourism in every country they blessed with their holy presence.
From Namibia (where they welcomed their perfect baby, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt) to France, India, Cambodia and Vietnam, they dropped celeb dough on private jets and crisscrossed the globe with their brood in tow. They even managed to touch down in lowly America for a bit, before heading to Costa Rica for Christmas on one of Angie's United Nations missions.
We doubt they'll slow down, so don't be surprised if they're back in the top spot for 2007.
