The Boston Red Sox Will Soon Be Scoring Runs at 'JetBlue Stadium'

With their new home within T5 at JFK there’s little doubt that JetBlue really loves New York. They’re proud to be the city’s hometown airline, and they even revamped the iconic "I <3 NY" logo into something with a little JetBlue flare. Well their relationship with the Big Apple might be on the rocks, as not only is JetBlue the official airline of the Boston Red Sox for the next eight years—but now they’re going to sponsor a stadium.

Baseball purists need not worry, as Fenway Park isn’t getting a JetBlue makeover; however, the team’s spring training home in Florida will now be known as JetBlue Park. The Sox are busy finishing a new Sunshine State stadium in time for spring training of 2012, and when the turnstiles begin to turn and the box offices open up, it will be all JetBlue all the time.

Batter Up! Here's the Scoop on Baseball Spring Training in Florida

March 8, 2011 at 9:31 AM | by | Comments (0)

Despite the temperatures across much of the country, the date on the calendar says that spring is right around the corner. We were hesitant to believe it thanks to the latest winter blast, but pitchers and catchers have already reported to the Sunshine State, and that’s enough confirmation for us. Grapefruit League games are already underway as everyone has been busy burning those extra off-season pounds, and now it’s your turn to skip out of work, get out of the snow, and celebrate the national pastime.

Here’s the scoop on a few teams, where they play, and what they offer:

· Philadelphia Phillies
They might not have won the World Series in 2010, but with Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee as part of their rotation they might find themselves playing well into the fall this season. Far from the winter weather of Pennsylvania, the team does their warm weather thing in Clearwater. There’s good beaches not too far from the stadium, so remember to plan a little downtime for yourself in between games. The good seats will run you a little north of $30 per person, but there’s always a spot in the grass for around $13.

Sports Travel: Red Sox In Japan, No Green Kaiju To Hold Them Back

Where: Tokyo, Japan
March 26, 2008 at 3:15 PM | by | Comments (0)

Typically when a player on a champion professional sports team is asked of his (or her) post-championship plans, the player will say, "We're going to Disney World!" Hopefully members of the World Champion Boston Red Sox got their childhood dreams fulfilled before this week, when they played their season opener against the Oakland A's in Tokyo, Japan.

The Sox played two exhibition games against the Nippon Professional Baseball teams the Hanshin Tigers and Yomiuri Giants, then won their opener at the Tokyo Dome and lost their second game -- but most importantly, the game turned out thousands of Sox fans who cheered through "Sweet Caroline" for the first time. (In Japan and looking for like-minded people? Try the new bar in Kyoto called Fenway Park.) Both the Sox and the A's return to the US to play more exhibition games before their official home openers.
