Beyonce Gets A Head Start On Fourth of July Weekend In Miami

Beyonce was spotted getting a head start on the Fourth of July weekend in Miami Beach yesterday, where she apparently went swimming with her clothes on. The singer does deserve a little R&R however, since it's been a busy week what with performing at the BET Awards and double dating with Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow in Beverly Hills.

According to the Miami-Herald, Beyonce isn’t the only one spending the holiday in Miami. Despite the economy, Miami’s hotels are filling up and are expected to be solidly booked for the weekend.

The Viceroy Hotel, a place to see and be seen in the city, is getting into the spirit of the weekend by offering a special package deal that includes a $100 spa credit, breakfast for two, preferred VIP seating for fireworks display, two free drink coupons, 10% off bottle service, VIP access to Club 50 and valet parking starting at $295 per night.

The hotel is also welcoming locals on Saturday by hosting the “Best 4th of July Fireworks Display in Miami”. The festivities include a pool party on their 2-acre pool deck featuring private cabanas and entertainment by top DJs, all beneath a canopy of the city’s best fireworks displays from Key Biscayne, Coral Gables, Miami Beach and Downtown Miami from 7 pm to 1 am. During the day, local families are welcome to enjoy the hotel’s pool from noon to 5pm. There will also a BBQ and drink specials, tickets start at $5.

Who Made It To Art Basel This Year?

Pamela Anderson arrives at Art Basel in Miami Beach with photographer friend David LaChapelle in a T-shirt and no pants. LaChapelle shot Anderson for a film featured in the Elton John "Red Piano" concerts in Las Vegas; this year in Art Basel he presented an exhibit called "Jesus Is My Homeboy."

Cityfile dismissed the celebrity guests at Art Basel as "decoration," bearing no significance to how the festival's really doing at what it's supposed to do--sell art. If so, stars were still willing to show up and look good for the cameras. Beyonce and Jay-Z took in a few galleries--furnishing one of their places together, perhaps? And Kirsten Dunst took a bunch of girlfriends to South Beach with her, before ditching them at a party to hit on Tom Brady. We had no idea he was into art!

Even The New York Times got in on the act by following their version of a tabloid star to the show, musician Malcolm McLaren, who presented his own video project to an adoring crowd. Another star presenter who made sure to be seen: Marilyn Manson, who showed up his bloody paintings and his new post-Evan Rachel Wood girlfriend.

Cadillac Records

It's a pretty quiet week for new flicks, but that means "Cadillac Records" might be able to make some noise with its limited release today. The period biopic of Leonard Chess (Adrien Brody) explores how a luxury car-happy businessman and a few Chicago blues men introduced America to rock 'n' roll.

Along for the ride are Chuck Berry (Mos Def), Etta James (Beyonce), Muddy Waters (Jeffrey Wright) and Little Walter (Columbus Short).

Though this one was shot in New Jersey and Mississippi, it's of course set in the blues town of Chicago. Here are a few high notes:

Back of the Envelope Guide: Bermuda Music Festival

If the end of summer has you a little depressed, then planning an outing to Bermuda might keep you going through the months ahead: The first weekend in October offers up the 13th Annual Bermuda Music Festival.

Beyoncé, UB40 and Aaron Neville each take a turn at the center stage with Alicia Keys winding things down the evening of October 4.

Three-day ticket packages start at $200 and will guarantee you the same seat for all three evening performances at the National Sports Centre. Great weather, outdoor music and easy access to the beach? Sounds like summer to us.

Airport Photo Shoot: Beyonce's Planes and Automobiles

LAX turned catwalk when Beyonce deplaned with a snakeskin tote wearing sky-high heels and designer threads on Tuesday. With shoes that tall, someone else has to be carrying your Louis Vuitton luggage!

Ms. Knowles just got back from Miami Beach where she might have been laying down tracks for a collaboration with T-Pain. He reportedly drove her all over town with his new 2009 Ford Flex, a crossover SUV being marketed as eco-friendly even though it gets just 20 miles to the gallon and you can get a fridge put into one row of seats. (For the gin and juice, naturally. But don't drink and drive!)

She may not actually have made a stop for snacks along the way, but that hasn't stopped indie rapper Cazwell from penning his new single, "I Seen Beyonce at Burger King." Insecurity Travel: State Dept. as Celeb Obsessed as We Are

There's a little encouraging news from the State Department's ongoing security investigation: Employees aren't trying to look at your passport... unless you're Beyonce. Or John McCain. Or the late Anna Nicole Smith.

The department ordered a probe after word leaked in March that files for the three presidential candidates still in the race had been improperly pulled from the Passport Information Electronic Records System, to which about 20,000 people have access. A new test showed that out of 150 celebrity names (chosen from Google's most searched-for-list and Sports Illustrated), 127 of them had been accessed recently. Knowles' documents were peeked at more than 100 times.

It's probably for the best that B seems to be staying in the country right now; she's set to film a thriller called "Obsessed" with Idris Elba and Ali Larter in LA and she is reportedly in talks to join the cast of "Desperate Housewives."

Memorial Day Celeb Travel: My, My, Monaco!

While Americans braved $4-plus-per-gallon prices at the pump--or watched people spend tons of gas money at the Indy 500--celebs flocked to the tiny principality of Monaco for a weekend away. Whether they were attending the Formula 1 race, like Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls, or otherwise occupied, stars alone or in pairs made the best of the holiday.

Kate Hudson relaxed in Monte Carlo with her new fling, racer Lance Armstrong, while newlyweds Jay-Z and Beyonce looked like they weren't having such a good time outside of their hotel. (Maybe they couldn't get tickets to Indiana Jones 4!)

Monaco is shaping up to be a very popular destination for celebs in 2008. In May, Bono celebrated his 48th birthday there, and Brangelina took the kids for a family vacation. Another advantage to this tiny principality? It's close enough to Cannes that stars can run over (in private helicopters, natch!) and catch a film or two.

Potential Honeymoon Travel: Hova and B on the Road, Newly Wed?

Hey, did you hear that hip-hop royalty Jay-Z and Beyonce got married in New York this weekend? While the pair has yet to release an official statement about the possibly of their legal union, a marriage certificate was issued in the state of New York, and crowds of black Hummer limos swarmed lower Manhattan on Friday--allegedly to take the rapper and the R&B diva to the courthouse and on to a party at his TriBeCa loft.

So where did they go for the honeymoon? How about romantic... Greensboro?! If the chart-topping power couple tied the knot Friday, they sure picked an odd time to do it, with three tour dates left on Jay's "Heart of the City" tour with Mary J. Blige.

The pair dispatched with two of those this weekend in North Carolina (where Blige wished them vague congratulations) and Washington DC. Jay and Beyonce will have some time to take a real honeymoon before the April 16 show at the Hollywood Bowl.

Is Fancy Karaoke The New Bottle Service?

They could have models and bottles, but all they want are Madonna and "Friends in Low Places." Hip hop stars flocked last week to Spotlight Live, the Times Square karaoke bar which is just a more expensive version of those divey party rooms. The extra price gets you back-up singers and a band, which apparently was enough to entice Naughty By Nature to perform at the spot during a Bad Boy entertainment party last week.

Mya, Ne-Yo and Beyonce have all reportedly stopped by Spotlight Live to belt out bad karaoke tracks. Unfortunately none of these performers were stupid enough to get caught on camera, but Tyra Banks was not so lucky when she decided to perform "Proud Mary" last year; Best Week Ever has the video.

Oh, and since every performance at the bar is broadcast to the street below, you could see someone famous, too!

Kanye's Favorite Thing to Do In Vegas

Hopping from expensive club to expensive club? Buying out the Louis Vuitton store? Lying down in the sun at the Rehab pool party surrounded by ladies? Kanye West has done all that, but recently on his blog he revealed one of his favorite things to do in Vegas: Play Connect Four!

Apparently Kanye and Beyonce were in Vegas for the opening of Jay-Z's new 40/40 Club, and while the club was fine, they got into several heated games of Connect Four. She beat him nine times straight. You go, girl.

B and Jay Split Work and Play

They're still so crazy right now! As earlier reported, Jay-Z is opening a Vegas outlet of his popular New York club 40/40, and to promote its opening he and long-time girlfriend Beyonce will perform a duet there on eve of New Year's Eve.

That's right. Unlike stars like Paris Hilton, who selflessly accept large amounts of cash to "host" New Year's Eve parties at megaclubs (hers is at LAX in Vegas), Jay-Z and Beyonce will work on December 30 and then spend New Year's Eve lolling in a bathtub of Cristal Dom Perignon.

We know it's kind of early to ask, but... what are you doin' on New Year's Eve?

Beyonce and Jay Z's Mexican Holiday

It pays to be Jay Z. Oh, in so many ways, it pays. Not only is the man loaded on his own, but his girlfriend is rich, too, and she recently used her hard-earned dough to treat him to a vacation. Vacation from what? The hard work of getting richer, we guess.

Beyonce whisked Jay off to Mexico earlier this month to see "his favorite group" Coldplay perform in Mexico City and for a little bit of beach time. They reportedly dropped $11,000 a night on a villa--a stand-alone private residence, perhaps, but more likely one belonging to the Four Seasons in town. The resort has private villas in the hillside and by the beach. They're not so forthcoming with prices on the web, which means the cost could easily be up there in the $11,000 range.

Punta Mita is on Mexico's Pacific Coast, 45 minutes from the mouthful that is Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport in Puerto Vallarta.
