Anne Hathaway Gives Herself A Break

March 6, 2009 at 8:44 AM | by egw | 1 Comment

So her Oscar chances were crushed by the juggernaut of Kate Winslet and the "Extras" rule that Holocaust movies always win. So what? Anne Hathaway gave herself some time off anyway and was spotted relaxing in Liberia, Costa Rica. Hathaway went on a boat ride and, later on, posed for pictures with some fans who happened to be lucky enough to be vacationing there at the same time.

If you like having the place all to yourself, now's a great time to visit the Caribbean. If you're part of the tourist-and-trade economy, ehhh, not so much. Among the American businesses smacked by the effects of the Caribbean tourism slump are food distributors who supply to mega-cruises and transport companies normally mailing goodies between Caribbean immigrants and the families they left behind.

At the same time, no one wants it to look like he's enjoying a deluxe vacation when other people can't. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't -- but hey, don't blame Hathaway. She's just trying to have a good time.

Apply The Ryanair Rule To Your Favorite Stars

January 26, 2009 at 8:50 AM | by egw | 0 Comments

Last week Ryanair announced it would start fining passengers for taking more than one carry-on bag aboard. We don't imagine a lot of A-listers are taking Europe's cheapest airline, but if they did, who would rise to the challenge and who would be digging in their pockets for that £30 ($42) fee?

Anne Hathaway conquers the clutter with one tiny purse -- even her man-friend has a bigger bag! Kate Winslet's elegant handbag makes it easy for her to sign autographs for her fans and talk on her phone at LAX. Vanessa Hudgens looks a little weighted down by her huge bag, but she managed to keep it to one -- for an LAX-Tokyo flight, nonetheless!

But not every celeb can get down to that one bag. Bar Refaeli's pair of a blue purse and roller makes her a light packer, but a heavy overhead-bin user. Hayden Panettiere's super-chic belted bag (complete with seatbelt buckle) wouldn't fool a gate agent into thinking she was only toting a purse. And Jessica Simpson's second piece can't be checked -- she'd be paying a fat fine for her Maltipoo Daisy.

Hathaway has been stowed out of sight as more information comes out about her ex-boyfriend Rafael Follieri's cons. The latest revelation is that she, not knowing how much trouble he was in, paid his $37,000 rent for four months. Next time, use HotelChatter to find a hotel!

Dangerous Travel: Agent 99 Attacked Off-Duty in Russia

June 24, 2008 at 10:30 AM | by egw | 0 Comments

You can catch her right now as Steve Carell's glamorous partner in the movie "Get Smart," but Anne Hathaway always struck us as a sweet, down-to-earth girl in real life--which makes her assault by a jealous girl on the movie set seem even more like a spy ambush.

Apparently a girl approached her on set in Russia and started screaming and pushing the star until Hathaway kicked her in the... Nah, she let the security guards handle it.

Given the hazards of the road, the Gramercy Park Hotel ain't looking so bad; the greatest danger there might be tripping over Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson at the Rose Bar.
