Dannielynn Birkhead will not be consoled! Maybe she just hates holiday travel as much as the rest of us, arriving at LAX with dad Larry Birkhead. Maybe she would rather have been at San Diego's McClellan-Palomar Airport partying with LC and Audrina from "The Hills"? No matter; she wept straight through the baggage claim.
Little Dannielynn had a big year in 2007. She wasn't even a year old when mother Anna Nicole Smith died, and she became the center of a heated paternity battle between former boyfriend Birkhead and Smith's husband at the time of her death. Hopefully 2008 will be less eventful so she can get back to the ordinary kid stuff like playing with Ernie.
Two months after the death of Anna Nicole Smith, DNA tests revealed yesterday in the Bahamas have confirmed that photographer Larry Birkhead is the father of her daughter Dannielynn. It was a great day for Birkhead, who broke up with Anna Nicole in July of last year, but not for widower and lawyer Howard K. Stern, who had a "commitment ceremony" with Smith in September and is listed on the baby's birth certificate.
Birkhead and Smith met at the Kentucky Derby in 2004 and he's a Louisville native, although these days the paparazzo calls Burbank home. For all you would-be celebrity baby-daddies, this year's Derby will be held May 5, which gives you 24 days to build up your tolerance for mint juleps and giant, ridiculous hats.
But if you really, really want to get involved in a paternity case of your very own, might we recommend setting up camp early? The Kentucky Derby Festival presents events all throughout April -- this Friday and Saturday, for instance, is the Adidas Derby Festival starring up-and-coming basketball players. Dannielynn may be staying in the Bahamas for the moment, but you don't have to.
Yes, some of those Bahamavention print ads still scare the crap out of us, but we're warming up to the commercials. They show the clip featuring Lyle, above, most where we are. But you know who really needs a Bahamavention? Howard K. Stern. You know he's going to have a nervous breakdown when they reveal the DNA results in the paternity case for Anna Nicole Smith's daughter. (Larry Birkhead is the true babydaddy, duh.) Till all hell breaks loose later today, unwind with a few Bahamavention commercials on YouTube.
Perhaps this sale is honor of Dannielynn Smith's impending liberation. TMZ reports that the DNA results in the paternity case for Anna Nicole Smith's daughter will probably be announced on Tuesday. Yeah, we've heard similar predictions before. Meanwhile, JetBlue is doing its part by dropping one way prices between New York and Nassau to $69, which equals out to about $200 all-in for a round trip. We found a quick getaway on May 7-10 at that price, about a $40 savings over Continental. Might JetBlue be the paps' shuttle of choice to the Bahamas?
· Mount Horeb Baptist Church in Nassau, where Anna's funeral will take place today.
· Horizons the seaside home at the eastern end of the island that she shared with Howard K Stern, and which he now shares with Dannielynn, Smith's five-month-old heiress.
Horizons, is the highlight of the tour. All you have to do is ask any cabbie in Nassau for the "Anna Nicole Tour" and off you go--though prices will vary, everything is negotiable.
One cab company is even rumored to offer a limited number of a special Tribune newspaper. The issue being offered was plastered with photos of Anna and Immigration Minister Shame Gibson sharing a bed. In Nassau, the issue sold out immediately, but you can buy your very own for $20.00 at the airport and in certain cabs.
A taxi driver, who offers the Anna Nicole tour to his passengers had this to say:
It's sad that she died but we don't look at the negative. There are persons in the taxi industry who are making money because people come here asking to go to the house, the cemetery and the hospital
If you want to take the tour virtually, we have Google mapped Horizions here, after that, you are on your own (hint: just head west and take John F. Kennedy to the airport)
Anna Nicole Smith has gone up to the great endorsement gig in the sky. She died at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, yesterday.
We've actually been to that hotel and can vouch for the fact that the rooms are passable enough to go in. Bad juju notwithstanding, it's a decent place to stay if you're into the hotel-as-mini-theme park idea. It's also super close to Fort Lauderdale International Airport, where we expect countless shady figures involved in Anna's life to be shuffling about very soon, if they aren't already. FLL has numerous flights to Los Angeles, Texas, and the Bahamas, from where said shady figures would likely be arriving.
If Anna's ex, Larry Birkhead, plans to travel to the Bahamas with a gaggle of lawyers to pursue his paternity suit (involving Anna's baby daughter, Dannielynn), he'd better remind himself and his crew of those new passport laws. Nothing kills a heated legal chase like cock blocking at customs.
