Catch Hilary Swank Filming in Ann Arbor

Thanks to some sweet tax incentives, Michigan has seen over 70 films come and go over the past year. But this week, the state’s star wattage got turned up a notch thanks to Hillary Swank who is in Ann Arbor filming scenes for “Betty Anne Waters”, the true story of a woman that put herself through law school to defend her wrongfully accused brother. Over the weekend, Hilary was spotted having dinner at Angelo’s on E. Catherine St and she can be found filming at the University of Michigan today.
Last fall, we tracked Michigan’s filming bonanza in our Chasing Michigan series but back then the most star power we saw was Sean Astin. It’s not that we don’t love Sean Astin, but this month, the A-Listers have landed. Swank will be joined by George Clooney in the next few weeks when he begins filming “Up in the Air” in Detroit. So, if you’re in Michigan this month, watch out for Oscar winners, paparazzi and the occasional celebrity tantrum.
If you have any tips about where else movies or TV shows are filming, send them our way at tips@jaunted.com.

People are Strange

For a college town, Ann Arbor is famous for quite a few things: A historical football stadium, Zingerman's Deli, even the Has Dash. Are tiny doorways for magical fairies about to be added to the list? God, we hope not.
Over the course of the last year, tiny doors have appeared on buildings all across Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor's very own fairy expert--though he denies making the doors--claims that they are appearing because fairies have been displaced from their pastoral roots and are now acclimating to the urban environment. Further information on the fairy door are available here.
We can't wait until the fairy tour gets combined with the tailgate parties for this year's Michigan-Michigan State game.
