As airlines add or even raise checked luggage fees, those bins above our heads are getting stuffed to their limits with carry-on wheeled luggage, coats, laptop bags, duty-free purchases and whatever else you don't want taking away from your under-seat legroom.

Kind of a Big Deal: Onboard American Airlines' First Flight to Seoul, South Korea

If we were to tell you that American Airlines only just began flying to Seoul, you'd probably say "what, they weren't flying there already?!"

As crazy as it seems, it's the truth. Prior to May 9, any traveler wanting to fly American to Seoul would actually only get as far as Tokyo, where there'd be a connection to a Japan Airlines flight onward to Seoul-Incheon (ICN). Furthermore, this new route means some very nice competition for airlines to Korea and some fresh service enhancements from American (like the bibimbap!).

One Very Easy, Borderline Insane Way to Get Kicked Off a Flight

There's a distinct difference between "fan" and "stan." A fan has a normal affection for a product, person, or somesuch. A stan? Well, they're different. They fall into the batshit category. They go too far. They can be dangerous.

That's how American Airlines crew could categorize the passenger they had to remove from a recent flight from LA to JFK.

A woman, obviously Whitney Houston's biggest fan, repeatedly sang her "I Will Always Love You" song for hours on end, before passengers had had enough.

Opportunities seem to be few and far between if you’re looking to score a job with an airline. Sure there might be some chances to get a behind-the-scenes role pushing papers or filtering spreadsheets, but the up in the air openings only come around every so often. Well that time is now, as it looks like American Airlines is preparing for an influx of resumes and applications.

Flight attendant positions are now available from the American Airlines careers site, so now’s the time to put the finial touches on your application and click submit. They’re looking for flight attendants with some foreign language experience—everything from Finnish to Chinese—but if you’re only good with English that should be okay too.

Surprisingly Yummy Airline Meals: Korean Bibimbap on American Airlines

We have all had a terrible meal on a flight before. In fact, we have shown you some of the sadder trays slid in front of us. With this new series of amazing airline meals, we can revel in the airline culinary delights and give kudos to the airlines that got it right.

16 hours in the air is nothing to take lightly. That's three mealtimes, plus several naps, plus a movie or two and some general spacing-out-while-staring-at-clouds time. Thus, when it came to our nonstop in Business Class from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Seoul, South Korea yesterday on American Airlines, we knew we had plenty time to enjoy filling up on food.

AA 27 was actually the very first flight by AA to Seoul, a momentous occasion on which we'll go into deeper depth next week. Still, because it was an inaugural to South Korea, it would be the first time American has offered the Korean dish of Bibimbap on a flight. How could we pass it up?

While our seatmate tucked into his chicken order, the flight attendant presented us with a printed "How To" sheet on properly mixing the ingredients together, as bibimbap is actually rice with a plethora of colorful additions (carrot, zucchini, cucumber, shiitake, spinach, egg, tender beef bulgogi and pepper paste to taste). Even though this was an airline meal, presentation and quantity didn't suffer in the least.

JetBlue, American, and Delta Add New Routes And New Cities

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· JetBlue:
Okay at this point it’s pretty much getting out of hand, as we can hardly go a week without talking about a new option from JetBlue. This week the carrier is celebrating the announcement of destination number 82, and it’s going to be Port-au-Prince in Haiti. One daily flight is an option to Toussaint Louverture International Airport from New York’s JFK Airport, and it’ll be two daily options back and forth from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Government paperwork is still pending, but it sounds like the flights should take to the skies on December 5 of this year.

· American Airlines:
We knew this one was in the planning stages, but yesterday was the official kickoff for the new American Airlines service between the United States and South Korea. To be specific, American Airlines will now be doing the nonstop thing between Dallas-Ft. Worth and Seoul each and everyday of the week all year long. It’s Boeing 777-200s that will do all the flying fun between the two counties. To celebrate American Airlines is even feeling pretty generous with their frequent flyer miles, as they’re offering up to 50,000 miles for those flying between the two cities on eligible fares between now and the middle of August.

First Look at American Airlines' New Flagship Check-in at New York-JFK Airport

It's not too often that New York finds itself envious of Los Angeles, but in the case of VIP airport check-in lanes, LAX has it good. That is, had it good, since New York-JFK just opened an American Airlines Flagship Check-in on May 1.

If you're wondering where it is celebrities and other First Class flyers disappear to after the paparazzi have chased from the curbs at airports, it's lanes like this. The Flagship Check-in is a private zone for First Class and ultra-elite flyers, dedicated to the pre-security tasks of checking in, choosing seats, last-minute itinerary changes, and checking luggage with as little of the usual airport fracas as possible.

Hawaiian Airlines, Icelandair and American Airlines Lead This Week's New Route News

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Hawaiian Airlines:
It’ll be a little bit of time before things start flying back and forth, but Hawaiian Airlines is once again eager to get over to Asia. This time they’re planning to fly all the way over to China, as if things go according to plan the nonstop flights will run back and forth between Honolulu and Beijing.

Things should start in April of 2014, so you certainly have some time to get the funds in order if you’re looking to take advantage of this new route. This is international destination number 10 since November 2010 for Hawaiian Airlines, and this new flight should do its thing three times per week. Sounds like more tourism dollars will be arriving in the Aloha State, or it’s just a great stopover on the way back from China—Beijing, Waikiki, and then home.

· Lufthansa:
Here’s a little bit of an aircraft announcement, as it looks like Lufthansa and one of their A380s is on the move once again. Beginning on September 26, Lufthansa will be connecting Frankfurt with Shanghai five times per week, and it’ll all be done thanks to the Airbus A380.

The world’s biggest passenger aircraft will leave Germany around 5:20pm or so local time, and will arrive over in China at 9:55am—fancy. There’s room for 526 passengers across three different cabins, so we’re pretty sure there’s a seat that’s perfect for you. That’s not it when it comes to new airplane news either, as the latest Boeing bird—the 747-8—will now be doing its thing between Frankfurt and Los Angeles thanks to Lufthansa.

Whoops: American Airlines System Glitch Grounds All AA Flights

Update 5:15pm: American Airlines confirms that their systems are back up and running and the rest of the day will progress as normally as possible. Of course, over 700 flights have been hurt by the outage, so don't expect AA phone lines or customer service counters to have short waits.

Just after 2pm, our omniscient friends at NYCAviation tweeted "Ground stop in effect for DFW, LGA and ORD for @AmericanAir only due to computer issues, affecting many flights." Little were we to know that was only the start of major hiccups, as the severity of a system glitch ended up grounding all American Airlines flights from around 3pm EST until what is expected to be 5pm.

That's only two hours, but two hours is two hours too many for a major international airline, and American had been experience intermittent issues since just after noon. For example, USA Today reports that "more than 520 flights on American and regional affiliate American Eagle had been canceled as of 3:15 p.m. ET, according to flight-tracking service FlightStats."

New Route News from Emirates, American and Frontier

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Emirates:
It’s time for a brand new flight out of New York-JFK, as if they don’t enough nonstop flights anyway. We’re looking forward to what Emirates has to offer, as they’re getting ready to start up their only transatlantic service. It’s going to be a nonstop thing between JFK and Milan beginning on October 1, and if you’re interested the tickets are already up for grabs.

It’ll be Boeing 777-300ERs doing the flying, and the flight will continue on towards Dubai if you’re interested. Milan is great so snag some tickets, but just be sure to build in some time for a trip to Lake Como as well.

· SAS:
The weather is warming up, and that means it’s time to start planning that European getaway. Denmark just got a little bit closer to the United States, as Scandinavian Airlines—SAS to their pals—started nonstop flights between San Francisco and Copenhagen.

It’s the first ever nonstop connecting the San Francisco Bay Area with Copenhagen, and the plan is for the flights to run six times each and every week. So grab a cup of coffee, cram yourself into an economy seat, and a wienerbrød will be waiting for you.

The Jaunted Guide to Pet Travel Fees on Major US Airlines

Just because you're on the move to a new destination or vacation doesn't mean your pet has to stay at home. Flying with a small dog or cat is actually pretty easy if all rules are observed and fees paid, as we recently discovered while flying with our new kitten.

Traveling with a pet means paying attention to many restrictions, such as on destinations, aircraft type, travel class, pet weight and size, breed, and how many other pets are already booked for your desired flight. Always check with the airline for the latest rules before purchasing and traveling. Just remember to have veterinarian paperwork detailing the pet's vaccination record, and have yours and your pet's travel booked in advance.
