Not a bad way to escape this downright dreary North East April weather, huh? Claire will be sharing her field trip experience with us over the next week. Enjoy.

round-up of some food factory tours open to the public, from an Oakland fortune-cookie factory to (our fave) a small, old-time bottling plant for Dr Pepper. Good places to keep in mind during your summer wanderings.

Today's NY Times highlights some of the lesser known long-distance bike trips that have unique details like lodging in Rome, NY at Fort Stanwix, a Revolutionay War re-creation. Not to worry-things haven't changed too much, apparently the tour belts out "15 Miles on the Erie Canal" "several times during the week" according to the ride's organizer.
