Feeling Patagonia

February 6, 2009 at 11:10 AM | by shiralazar | 0 Comments

West Coast web media princess, and the latest Jaunted Embed, Shira Lazar is making her way through Chile on a top secret travel mission. She will be posting daily for the next week, in hopes of creating a glorious on-the-fly travel guide using as much point oh social webbing as she can. Enjoy.

We had walked the streets of the hyperactive Valparaiso and partied it up in urban restobars with Chileans, but now it was time to ditch the Converse for some hiking boots and get down and dirty in Patagonia.

So the economy sucks, you've lost your job or perhaps, unemployment is in your near future. The time couldn’t be better to get re-inspired, think outside the box and take that leap towards a new career path, er, or at least something to get you far far away from the current U.S. depression.

One word: Gaucho.

Gaucho. It is the new Plastics.

During our travels across Chile we have encountered the Gaucho up close and personal and we think becoming a Gaucho might just get you off the Prozac, or at least off the government's teat.

Jaunted Underwater: Snorkeling in Caye Caulker

Where: Belize
April 23, 2007 at 4:15 PM | by ced138 | 1 Comment

Claire Duffett lives in New York City and recently completed a 10-day trip from Guatemala City to Antigua, Lake Atitalan, Tikal, and the cayes of Belize.

Not a bad way to escape this downright dreary North East April weather, huh? Claire will be sharing her field trip experience with us over the next week. Enjoy.

Oh, and if you have any questions about traveling to Guatemala, now would be the time to ask.

In Caye Caulker, dozens of travel agencies line Front Street, the island's main drag. Each hut sustains itself by selling snorkeling trips. In short: it's the thing to do.

Factory Tours Across the U.S.

July 5, 2005 at 11:19 AM | by johnrambow | 0 Comments

Over at Tripso, there's a nice little round-up of some food factory tours open to the public, from an Oakland fortune-cookie factory to (our fave) a small, old-time bottling plant for Dr Pepper. Good places to keep in mind during your summer wanderings. By the way, our advice is to make time for that Tabasco factory tour only if you also want to see the gardens there -- the tour itself is lame.

The New Bike Path

July 1, 2005 at 9:58 AM | by sedona | 0 Comments

The bike tour is back, and way more unique and interesting. Sure, we've all heard the old stand-bys-biking through Tuscany, or up the east coast-but try around the Erie Canal or Michigan's old rail trails.

Today's NY Times highlights some of the lesser known long-distance bike trips that have unique details like lodging in Rome, NY at Fort Stanwix, a Revolutionay War re-creation. Not to worry-things haven't changed too much, apparently the tour belts out "15 Miles on the Erie Canal" "several times during the week" according to the ride's organizer.
