Last-Minute Labor Day Deals: Hilton Head Island Before It Gets Brisk

We hate to alarm you, but the summer is quickly coming to an end. Before you know it, the cooler weather will be trickling in, and those pumpkin-flavored lattes will be hitting the bar at your favorite coffee shop. That’s why it’s time to plan one last quick getaway, and Labor Day Weekend is the time to do it.

There’s plenty of sunshine and warmth to be had in South Carolina, so we say skip out of town and head to Hilton Head Island. It’s a nice spot for both those with families and those without, and if golf is your thing you won’t be short on courses from which to choose. They even have that snazzy red and white lighthouse—it’s actually only like 90-feet tall—for selfie opportunities.

As for events the end of summer is hardly short on options. There’s an organized bar crawl, a 5K, and the Shelter Cove Farmers Market runs throughout October—understandably the growing season is a little more extended down here.

Obviously there’s also the water, and Coligny Beach might just be one of your best bets. There’s picnic shelters, a nice little path, changing areas, showers, and one of those fountains that shoots up from the ground to soak your kids—and maybe your significant other. If you’re looking for another option that might be a little less busy try Driessen Beach Park; however, just note the beaches are nice and wide here, so you’ll be able to find a spot for your beach towel and umbrella.

Hilton Head has plenty of hotels and resorts from which to choose, and as usual our site siblings over at HotelChatter have you covered—like the Hilton that’s now and Omni. However, if you’re looking for more room to spread out there’s always a vacation rental. Book through the folks over at Wyndham Vacation Rentals, and you can score up to 15% off the usual rate.

Anywhere between three nights and fourteen is fine for the deal, but you do need to travel between August 25 and September 6 to take advantage of things. Just pop in the promo code LABORDAY, and you should be good to go.

Our final recommendation? Skip that Salty Dog Café spot. They have cute t-shirts, but the restaurant is a miss.
