Plan Far Ahead for This Awesome Airfare Deal to Hong Kong

August 26, 2014 at 4:00 PM | by | ()

Hong Kong may be clear on the other side of the world from New York, but Cathay Pacific's 777-300ER airplanes can make the journey in one swift hop over the North Pole. Come next spring, they'll even be doing so often with a new nonstop route from Boston-Logan International Airport.

This will be the airline's 6th US destination (following JFK, EWR, SFO, LAX, and ORD). To celebrate, and to fill up their first month of flights with smiling faces, they've launched a deep discount airfare sale on the new route, with roundtrip tickets going for a total of $753.88. That's a whole $4 cheaper than last year's similar launch sale to Newark.

Yes, that's including taxes and fees. Granted it's only for Economy Class and the special discount may or may not earn you mileage, so there are some conditions for accepting such a generous offer. Nonetheless, if you're wanting to visit family or friends in HK or have been putting off a Southeast Asia trip, you can't beat $754 on one of the world's best airlines, to one of the world's best airports, when tickets usually begin at $1,200 per person.

Purchase by August 29, although each flight only has a certain number of the discounted seats for sale, so booking early is your best chance at scoring your desired departure date. The fare is good for travel for flights beginning May 3-31, 2015, and travel must end by June 30, 2015.

No need to plan so far ahead

There were a number of Cathay sales incl a $580 from San Francisco for September/ October to Hong Kong and Delta had the $73 fare to Hong Kong in September/ October recently as well. We featured them on MightyTravels

The fares you mention are mistakes, whereas this sale is legitimately being offered by Cathay. The $580 mistake is being disputed and tickets cancelled, which is a concern when booking mistake fares. That will not happen with this deal.
