Training Camp Travel: Buffalo Bills Get Down to Business in Upstate New York

Are you ready for some football?! There’s still a few months before the first official kickoff, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t time for a sneak peek. Training camps are set to do their thing later this month, so if you’ve always wanted to check out the scrimmages and practices now’s the time to start planning:

It’s year two for Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel, and he and the team are looking to improve on the past few losing seasons and give a little more for the fans to cheer about. Outside of the playing field there’s all kinds of news and rumors regarding the sale of the team, and one interested party even includes singer—and rock star—Jon Bon Jovi. So there’s that storyline as well. However, first and foremost is training camp and that’s well underway.

· When's Camp:
Training camp has been doing its thing for the last couple of weeks, but thankfully there’s still plenty of opportunities to check out practices, drills, and to see the players in preseason action. Upstate New York remains the Buffalo Bills home while they’re warming up, as they do their thing over at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford. There are both day practices and night practices from which to choose, but just note that the night options require tickets. There’s a day practice today, and then again on August 19, 20, and 21 to close things out before the regular season.

· What's it Cost:
Admission is free to all Bills fans during the day practices, and we’re pretty sure they’ll let you in for free even if you aren’t a Bills fan; however, we recommend leaving team gear from another team back in the car. There’s one evening practice left on August 18, and the sponsor for this is Michelin/Dunn Tire—so you need to head to a Dunn Tire location to pick up a pair of tickets.

· What Else:
Expect the usual stuff that we’ve seen with other NFL training camps, and that’s a good thing. However, the team seems to take things a step further. They have something called the Bills Experience, and here kids—and big kids—can run through an obstacle course, kick field goals, and toss plenty of footballs around. There’s even an autograph tent complete with schedule, so you know what to expect. Today is the kicker and the punter, but hey an autograph is an autograph.
