Amazing Airline Meals: Alaska Airlines' First Class Oatmeal

July 8, 2014 at 3:35 PM | by | ()

Here’s something to improve your morning, as it combines two of our favorite things—airlines and breakfast. Alaska Airlines adds some fun stuff to their blog now and then, and just the other day they included a recipe for some good looking oatmeal that they serve up in first class.

We’re hardly travel nutritionists over here, but we have to say that the ingredients below look pretty good. Most importantly they also look pretty darn tasty.

We have not had the pleasure of being served a little in-flight granola in the Alaska Airlines first class cabin, but we’re thinking that with this recipe we can create the experience back on the ground. Apparently it’s one of the airline’s most requested recipes, so considering it’s still airline food—it’s got to be good.

So break out the kitchen gadgets and get cooking—here’s the scoop on how to pull it all together:

· 32 ounces - Rolled oats
· 8 ounces - Brown sugar
· 6 ounces - Butter
· 3 ounces - Sliced almonds or pumpkin seeds
· 1 ounce - Roasted sunflower seeds
· 3 ounces - Dried cranberries
· Melt butter and add sugar on medium heat until sugar dissolves. Mix with oats. Spread on sheet pan and bake in oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Put baked oats in bowl and toss in nuts, seeds and cranberries. Try serving with Greek yogurt and fresh blueberries.
