Always Wanted to Drive the 'Top Gear' Test Track? This is Your Lucky Day

Fun fact: BBC's Top Gear is the most popular automotive show in history, broadcasting in about 170 different countries. Hundreds of millions of people tune in and watch the ragtag trio of presenters race, destroy cars, and chide each other in the process every week, so there is a pretty good chance you're one of those fans. If so, good news! The Top Gear Test Track is now open to the public, for a price of course.

That’s right. You can drive on the same track at Dunsfold Park (near Guildford in Surrey) where they do most of their tests and challenges, visit the Top Gear TV Studio, and catch a glimpse of that looming Boeing 747 in the process. The Top Gear Track Experience, as it's called, offers 8 different options ranging from the “Star In a Reasonably Priced Car” timed laps to off-roading in a Land Rover Defender.

With the “Star In a Reasonably Priced Car” and similar experiences, you will be given a USB copy of the dashboard cam video, which is mostly you freaking out and attempting to stifle swear words. That way you can brag to your friends, post it to Facebook, and show them just how unwell you kept it together in the seat. If that isn’t enough, your name will be listed on the updating Leaderboard on the website.

If we had our pick, we'd opt for the Ariel Atom option, which has the guest driving one of the bare-knuckled runabouts around a course to demonstrate the handling.

The young ones won’t feel left out either. Children ages 11-17 have the option of driving an off-road course in a Range Rover Evoque. Fancy! Obviously, there will be a fully qualified instructor on board and parents are welcome to come along for the ride.

Prices range from £85 - £175 for the adult options and £45 - £90 for ages 11-17 off-roading. For a second chance at the track, check out the packages.

Reservations must be made on the official website or by phone (0844 225 0767) prior to arriving. After a quick check on the booking page, it does look like it is selling out quickly for the first couple months.
