Japan is in the process of providing free Wifi for travelers all across the country, and today one of the country's airlines has launched connectivity at 35,000 feet.

Three of Japan Airlines' 777-200 SKY NEXT aircraft now feature Gogo in-flight internet. It is the first commercial airline outside of North America to offer Wifi from Gogo.

The service is being added to the rest of the fleet as we speak, so look for news of fleetwide availability of WiFi to hit sometime later this year or in early 2015. In the meantime, read up on Japan Airlines' other technological effort: Tracking its gate agents' every move.
