Three Real Locations You Can Visit from 'The Fault In Our Stars'

Fans of The Fault In Our Stars are so enthusiastic that some are going as far as booking their next trips to Amsterdam for the purpose of immersing themselves in the world of John Green's best selling novel.

In the book (and now the movie), Gus (Ansel Elgort) and Hazel (Shailene Woodley) travel to Amsterdam to track down Hazel's favorite author, Peter Van Houten. The trip is a dream come true for the cancer stricken teen and includes many of the story's most memorable moments.

Here are three real-life locations in Amsterdam where fans can retrace Hazel's steps:

The Amsterdam Canals

In the film, Gus and Hazel are seen walking and embracing near one of Amsterdam's main three canals - Herengracht, Prinsengracht, and Keizersgracht. This is part of the larger area called "De Negen Straatjes," (the Nine Streets). It appears part of the movie was shot around Keizersgracht 510, an area also worth visiting for the local shopping.

The Filosoof Hotel

In both the book and the movie, the couple stay at the Hotel De Filosoof, a boutique hotel that is part of the Sandton group. You can check out their upcoming specials and rates at their official site.

Anne Frank House

Hazel's struggle to climb the stars at the Anne Frank House is an integral part of the movie. Alas, there was just one problem when it came to shooting the scene, as the historical landmark rarely allows filming inside the building. The production team spent only two hours filming outside the house and the interiors were meticulously rebuilt on a Pittsburgh soundstage.

If you plan to tour the Anne Frank home it is wise to buy tickets online as they tend to sell out in advance and the line for entry can be prohibitively long. More information can be found at annefrank.org.

The Fault In Our Stars opened nationwide on Friday.
