Travel Contest Alert: An Epic National Geographic Trip in Exchange for a Photo

June 5, 2014 at 10:02 AM | by | ()

Just like clockwork, it's that time of the year for National Geographic's Annual Photo Contest and if you're looking to take a prize, you need to act fast. For those with the knack for finding the perfect composition of an unforgettable moment, NatGeo wants to see the fruits of your labor in the form of stunning pics.

As in recent years, the publication opens up their inboxes to one-of-a-kind photos from readers to crown a winner for best shot. Entering is as easy as uploading a photo to the website and paying a $15 entry fee; the magazine is happy to take multiple entries with multiple fees.

Winners will score huge opportunities to see the world from behind a viewfinder, with a grand prize of an 8-day National Geographic Expedition to Alaska for two, second best taking home a 5-day photo workshop for one in Santa Fe, New Mexico and the third prize a 6-day cruise for two on a Maine windjammer schooner. There will be 7 merit winners this year, each granted some cool loot like gift cards to photography suppliers, magazine subscriptions, and framed art.

Time is running out since submissions end at lunch time on June 30th, so it's best to start diving into your iPhoto for your faves now. Don't worry if you don't think you have what it takes and just want to "ooh" and "ahh" over beautiful shots, the website exhibits all entries for perusal, and maybe some travel inspiration.
