Take to the Streets of Downtown LA for the Kings' Stanley Cup Party
Congratulations to the Los Angeles Kings, as over the weekend they defeated the New York Rangers to win the Stanley Cup Finals for the second time in the last three years. The National Hockey League takes to the streets today in Southern California, as it’s time for a victory parade. Things take place today—Monday—so be sure to plan an escape plan from work sooner than later.
Although the city isn't necessarily known for its hockey fans there were around 250,000 in attendance a couple years ago, so we can only expect even more today when things kick of at around noon—local time. Downtown is where things will take place, as stuff will start at the corners of Figueroa and West 5th streets, and then the people and players will move south along Figueroa Street and end at LA Live. Things should run for no more than 45 minutes or so, and then there will be a fan rally inside the Staples Center—unfortunately it’s already sold out.
All of the restaurants and what not over at the LA Live complex will be open for business, and we certainly can’t blame you for enjoying a few lunch time beverages as well. If you can’t make it to the celebration there’s always the internet, as it sounds like things will be streamed online thanks to Fox Sports West. Either way—enjoy and go Kings!
