A Reality Show Worth a Watch: 'A Very British Airline' on the BBC

We’re suckers for a good airline or airport reality show, and that’s why we’re excited to hear about the latest offering from the good people over at the BBC. They’ve been following around their hometown—or home country—airline for quite some time, and now it looks like the very first episodes of A Very British Airline are hitting the airwaves.

The series promises to show all the ins and outs of running an airline, but it also reveals a behind the scenes look at some of the business and branding of the airline. It’s not just all runways and airplanes, as the cameras also hit the boardroom to check on operational choices and other big deal decisions.

So far there’s only a few episodes that have made their debut, but some of the initial offerings show off the better side of travel—think airline lounges, spa treatments before takeoff, and of course plenty of champagne. Cabin crew training, pilot preparation, and baggage handling round out just some of the topics that have already been covered in the new series.

For those in the United Kingdom things can be seen on BBC Two as well as online thorough the network’s iPlayer, but unfortunately it’s bad news for those who call the nifty fifty home. However, a simple search on YouTube will likely uncover entire episodes for your viewing pleasure. Also, taking a virtual field trip across the pond—by using a different IP address—might just get you access to what you’re looking for.

Bottom line—grab a bag of peanuts and a Diet Coke and cozy up with your tablet or laptop for an hour, and then before you know it you’ll be looking to book a trip aboard British Airways.
