Three L.A. Food Trucks to Visit Before Seeing 'Chef' This Weekend
Jon Favreau wrote, directed, and stars in the new movie Chef, about a world-class chef who finds redemption in a food truck. Wondering what real-life L.A. food trucks inspired the director? He recently shared a few of his favorites.
Favreau worked closely with famed L.A. chef Roy Choi on the movie so his Kogi Food Trucks were an obvious choice. Choi helped create the menu for the movie and trained Favreau for his role. Kogi is pretty iconic in the Los Angeles food truck scene for starting the Korean Mexican taco movement. You can find the trucks' schedules at kogibbq.com.
The director also recommended The Urban Oven's fennel sausage pizza cooked in their mobile wood-fire oven. You can check out their calendar to find out where The Urban Oven will be next, too.
Jon said the Cuban sandwiches the crew put together for his fictional El Jefe Truck in Chef tasted as good as they looked. El Jefe might not be a reality but No Jodas is. This food truck is serving up tasty Cubanos at lunchtime 5-6 days a week. You can find their next stop at nojodaskitchen.com.
Chef also stars Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., John Leguizamo, and Sofia Vergara. It opens in limited release today.
