Last May Michael Bay announced principal photography was underway on Transformers: Age of Extinction in Navajo Tribal Park in Monument Valley.

Now, just one year later, we're about to see Monument Valley and Moab, UT on the big screen as the movie is released on June 27. Bay spent just two weeks filming in Utah but the area is expected to have a large roll in the overall film.

Moab has a long on screen history from John Ford's 1949 film Wagon Master to Dreamworks' Need For Speed which was also released this year. In The Greatest Story Ever Told the Colorado River became the Nile and Thelma and Louise's famous Grand Canyon scene was actually shot near Dead Horse Point State Park, southwest of Moab.

Discover Moab has put together a Moab Movie Auto Tour highlighting many of these locations. You can find it all at www.discovermoab.com/pdf/movie.pdf.
