Better Late Than Never: Southwest Launches Mobile Boarding Passes
After successful trial programs in Austin, Houston, and Dallas, Southwest Airlines has announced that mobile boarding passes are now available for all domestic flights across the United States.
Better late than never for the budget carrier, as it becomes one of the last major airlines to offer what has quickly become a standard service. Southwest does so many other things well, though, from its on-board drink specials to its best-in-the-biz boarding policy, we suppose we'll give them the benefit of the doubt and simply call this being fashionably late.
To use a mobile boarding pass on your next flight, download the Southwest app. You can also have your boarding pass e-mailed or texted to your mobile phone when checking in online. One thing to note is that the new program applies only to Southwest flights and is not available on the few AirTran flights that remain.
