How to Get Tickets to the Belmont Stakes
May 20, 2014 at 3:42 PM
California Chrome has two down and just one race to go to win the coveted Triple Crown, making the Belmont Stakes this year's hottest tickets in horse racing.
Adding to the interest was yesterday's vote giving Chrome the OK to use equine nasal strips (think giant Breathe Right strips for horses) at Belmont. This was a relief for the superstitious Chrome team given the horse has won six straight races wearing the strips, including the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, and they believe it is the magic ingredient. If it is, this will be the first time a horse has won the Triple Crown since Affirmed won in 1978.
Most tickets for this year’s Belmont Stakes are long gone. Fans can still get tickets to some of the tented areas without track views. These tickets start at $140 for the Festival Tent and do include access to betting windows (of course). There are also tickets available for the upscale North Shore Terrace with views of the track and an all day buffet for $375.
Fans who want to be closer to the action will have to turn to the resale market. Right now StubHub has tickets ranging from Grandstand General Admission for $23.95 to Second Floor Grandstand seating for $5505.
The few remaining tent and terrace tickets can be purchased at belmontstakes.com or StubHub's selection can be browsed at stubhub.com.
