Dubai Gets All the Good Stuff, Including a Six Flags

May 1, 2014 at 9:52 AM | by | ()

It has happened before, and now it looks like it is happening again—someone is trying to build a Six Flags over in Dubai. This time the necessary bits and pieces seem to be in order, and as long as there’s not another global economic crisis things should finally get off the ground.

A group of rich people think roller coasters and a theme park are just what the region needs, and if they get their way the latest Six Flags venture will be rubbing elbows with all the skyscrapers of Dubai.

Technically things will be outside of the city center in a more industrial area, or at least that’s where Meraas Holding—the ones with the deep pockets—has reached a deal with Six Flags Entertainment to build the park.

Bulldozers and construction crews don’t seem to be on the horizon, but they will arrive sooner than later if all goes according to plan. That’s because the initial estimates indicate that the park should open up for business in 2017, and rides and attractions don’t build themselves.
