Tunisia is trying to save one of its most important landmarks and they need your help.

The site in question is the set that served as the fictional city of Mos Espa, located on the planet Tatooine, in the Star Wars films. Since being built for the movies in the 1970s, the location has become such a popular tourist destination there is a hotel built right inside.

But, Tunisian officials and Star Wars fans are worried the sets will be lost forever as the desert slowly takes over the remaining buildings.

The government has set up an Indigogo page to raise the $45,000 needed for protecting the sets and promoting the site to future generations of Star Wars fans.

To make matters worse, they might also have some competition coming their way. Rumor has it a new Tatooine set is being built in Abu Dhabi for Star Wars: Episode 7.

Help save the existing Mos Espa set by donating at indiegogo.com.
