United to Finally Equip Airport Gates with Charging Stations

April 1, 2014 at 1:25 PM | by | ()

Stay a little more connected during your next flight with United, as the carrier is doing their best to keep you charged up during your time at the gate.

The airline is adding around 500 charging stations to airport terminals and gate areas. Their home at Chicago O’Hare International Airport is the first to get the installations and upgrades, as they’re already hard at work putting in more than 100 such stations across the airport’s Concourse B and Concourse C.

We’ve got to say that they’re a little behind with this kind of airport addition, as we’re pretty sure that Delta did something like this years ago.

Anyway, each station will feature six power outlets and a pair of USB ports, so no matter what you have—you should be able to plug in and charge up.

Airports in spots like New York, New Orleans, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, and Washington, DC are all on the list for these types of terminal technology. We’re not exactly encouraging you to wait until you get to the airport to charge up your tablet and phone, but if you forget to do so back at home United has you covered—at least they will in the near future.
