SeaWorld and Shamu Pulling Out All The Stops For Their 50th Anniversary Celebration

We realize there’s a little bit of controversy when it comes to SeaWorld and its parks and practices; however, when a theme park is celebrating its fiftieth birthday, it's hard to deny its popularity. The "Sea of Surprises" anniversary bash kicked off earlier this week at all three SeaWorld locations and will take place for the next 18 months via a handful of new events and attractions.

Over at SeaWorld San Diego, the celebration includes a whole new entrance and arrival experience, as Explorer's Reef opens this month featuring multiple touch pools filled with critters like shark pups, rays, and skates. Something called "Bubble Blowout" will make its way through the parks too, as it pumps out bubbles of all shapes and sizes. We’re thinking that will be a hit with the little ones.

Giant sea life sculptures will be wheeled into the parks, and SeaWorld is promising all kinds of additional animal encounters. As for Shamu, there's going to be a new evening show across all the parks. Shamu's Celebration: Light Up The Night promises high energy—their words—as well as new music, new elements, and all kinds of killer whale goodness.
