Niftiest New Tourism App Right Now: London's Streetmuseum

Load up your mobile phone with a nifty new app before your next trip across the pond, as there’s a new way to check out the sites in and around London.

The latest app from the Museum of London allows travelers to match up modern day sights with images from the past. It’s kind of like creating your own augmented reality of what’s going on in the city.

Images are all from the archives at the museum, and some of them date back to the mid 1860s. There are street view images of more than 100 of the most must-see attractions and landmarks in London, and these have been used to make the new-meets-old imagery right on your phone. If you’re looking for more than just pictures there’s plenty of other features to tap on the app.

Check out the Museum of London: Streetmuseum on the iTunes store to see a little more. Best of all, the museum will be happy to sell you some of the vintage images right off their website.
