Three Miami Bars for Beating the Heat with a Frozen Drink

Miami is known for a lot of things - beautiful beaches, the nightlife, shopping, and huge frozen cocktails.

On a recent trip to Miami Beach we were bombarded by hostesses offering 2-for-1 drink specials, 60 oz strawberry daiquiris, and martinis the size of our heads. We resisted falling into the giant drink tourist trap, but it did get us wondering: if you wanted to drown yourself in a mammoth Miami frozen margarita, where's the best place to go?

Here's a look at three Miami joints doing frozen drinks right:

· Wet Willie's South Beach
If you're only going to have one fruity beverage in South Beach, most locals and tourist seem to agree you should get it at Wet Willie's. Their Bahama Mamas, Dreamsicles, and Call a Cab concoctions keep the place packed, along with their relatively low prices (by South Beach standards anyway). A large drink is only $12.

· Monty's Coconut Grove
Monty's always draws a crowd for their happy hour raw bar where you can get 1/2 price rum runners and Miami Vices. The waterfront pub also has live music and great bay views.

· Glow Bar
If you're looking for more rich than kitsch, try the Glow Bar at the Fontainebleau. The famous poolside lounge serves fresh banana-coconut Funky Monkeys and lemon-blueberry Fireflies for $14, a bargain considering the posh surroundings.
