If you're going to Mardi Gras in New Orleans next month, why not balance out all of that debauchery with some more meaningful volunteer work?

Hands Up Holidays is offering an 8-day volunteer trip to New Orleans that includes refurbishing homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina, sorting out clothing donations at a homeless shelter, or teaching computer skills to the unemployed.

Their sample itinerary features a walking tour of the French Quarter, 3 days of volunteering, a plantation tour, and one free day. But, each trip and start date can be customized.

The cost per person in $2,680, with breakfast and accommodations for two.
