Volunteer During the Day, Party During the Night for Mardi Gras in New Orleans

If you're going to Mardi Gras in New Orleans next month, why not balance out all of that debauchery with some more meaningful volunteer work?
Hands Up Holidays is offering an 8-day volunteer trip to New Orleans that includes refurbishing homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina, sorting out clothing donations at a homeless shelter, or teaching computer skills to the unemployed.
Their sample itinerary features a walking tour of the French Quarter, 3 days of volunteering, a plantation tour, and one free day. But, each trip and start date can be customized.
The cost per person in $2,680, with breakfast and accommodations for two.
