Salt Spring Island Apple Festival – Salt Spring Island, British Columbia
Better pack the passport for this apple festival, as the Salt Spring Island Apple Festival does its thing a couple hours southwest of Vancouver via a ferry or two. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better setting for an apple festival, and they’ve got the harvest to back things up. The area grows over 350 different varieties of apples, and they do it all organically. This year things will run on September 29, as the local “Pie Ladies” are already hard at work baking up some masterpieces to share. Among all the usual festival fun, there’s even a chance to vote on your favorite apple, as organizers gift a people’s choice award for the island's best.
Annual Downtown Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival – Ithaca, New York
The nighttime temperatures are starting to dip in upstate New York, so it certainly feels like time to celebrate the season. Things run here between October 4th and 6th as games, rides, and live performances do their thing across two stages in and around the Ithaca Commons. In total, there are over 100 vendors scheduled to be in attendance, and they’ll be dishing out things like cider donuts, hot apple cider, and plenty of unique apple varieties. If you’re looking for something a little less "appley," check out the 50 vendors setting up to sell everything from jewelry and ceramics to home decor and clothing. Admission is free, but it’s going to set you back $5 to park downtown.
