Alaska Airlines is one of the first carrier’s to team up with Google Wallet, and they’re thinking you’ll be excited to track your frequent flyer miles and other membership details right on your device. Google Wallet is available in both iOS and Android flavors, and it’s free to download. Once you’ve got it on your phone you can store your Mileage Plan number right in there by either scanning your card or through just typing in the digits—the old fashioned way. After that account access is right at your fingertips, as you can track your balances and account stuff, and you can toss the plastic card right into the trash—or dresser drawer.
Alaska Airlines is also onboard with Apple and their Passbook feature, and their quick to promote their standing as the first domestic carrier to offer up both of these services. This probably isn't as groundbreaking as in-flight WiFi, but we can't complain.
