Dolly Parton Doles Out $300 Million on New Roller Coasters and More
Harry Potter and Mickey Mouse better watch their backs, as there’s a theme park planning quite a big expansion. Dollywood is preparing to go all in with their offerings, as it sounds like they’re looking to throw down around $300 million to improve, expand, and upgrade.
All the goodies aren’t happening all at once, as the big influx of cash will be spent somewhat slowly—like over the next ten years or so. Namesake Dolly Parton recently spilled the beans, as she revealed that the theme park would be finally expanding into a full-fledged resort. She expects that a 300-room hotel and more will be just part of the new look of Dollywood—something they’re calling Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort.
As far as the rides are concerned, it looks like Fire Chaser Express will be the first new roller coaster to arrive in 2014. Other goodies include a fishing pond, and there will be fire pits where you can stroll up and burn some marshmallows in an attempt to make s'mores.
There’s a website where you can check the status of Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort—we’re not sold on the name. You can even sign up for a free Founders Club membership to get the latest news, and eventually some discounts and access to other fun stuff in advance of the rest of us.
